I'm looking at maybe a 1981 KZ440 locally. I'm thinking of going the cafe route with it. How hard do you think it'd be with the way the rear of the frame is? I have a welder and everything but I don't want to get into cutting and welding too much.

ive seen a couple of guys locally here turn them into cafe's and they just cut off the top bar of the subframe leaving the lower bar that supports the shock and welded on a new upper that is straight. if i remember correctly they had a bit of space that they basically had to weld a gusset into to fill and angular space above the shock

That's sort of what I was thinking too. Thanks!

Yeah the LTD versions don't cafe as easy but with a welder it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Here (http://www.chopcult.com/forum/showthread.php?p=105967) is where I'm at in hacking a 550 LTD into a cafe type, too bad my project has just been sitting since November. Been too cold in the garage to get motivated...
