Does it look dumb to run a sissy bar with a short fender or no fender? Here are a couple pics of what I'm talking about. Here are two different angles.

and I know my welds look like shit, but they're with a flux-core and they're temporary, so ease up.

No way. What's the point of it if it's not serving a purpose? The only right answer is it looks good or it's badass, that's neither.

Well it would serve a puprose. I'm making a little bracket to hook on the bottom that would let me tie up a case and a sleeping bag. If I run it, i'll make it.

I'm really not one to crash on someones creativity, but that really looks like ass man. I commend you for givin it a try. I mean eventually someone has to try something totally new or it's all the same; but I really think your reachin to much. Sorry man.:asshat:

I already said I don't like it but I think the real question is, do you like it?

There is nothing wrong with the sissy bar or fender, just dont put them together. Scrap the Sissy or run a bigger fender

No, I don't really like it either. I was just trying to convinve myself that function would beat form in this case and it doesn't. I had the sissy bar on the bike before I hard-tailed it and way shortened the fender, and it looked killer then. Not so much now. Thanks guys for the input.

even if you make some sort of ledge to use to strap things on like you were saying you might as well just put a fender on.

Yes, it looks like shit. Step away from the bike and put the MD-2020 down for a minute or two.

my bike will have the fender go past the sissy like an inch at the ducktail, thats it. but then again itll be a full on fender too.

I am just wondering about your idea really. Any of your gear shifts it is instantly on the tire and sucked under/into that little fender. Just a thought

I think the only way this style would have a chance is if you ditched the fender all together. Otherwise, take the fender all the way back - good luck!

It taste's like an alter boy's ass?

Alright that was fucked up; but I couldn't resist. Apparently neither could the Pope. Damn it I did it again.

Disco, didn't know you were doing a full rebuild. Hows your chick going to ride along if you got no fender? I say put a longer fender on and rock that bar man.

Put on a real fender, or ditch the sissy bar.

Definitely not if it's going to look like that. No offense, but it just doesn't work. The fender being that short looks awkward too. Sissy bar would be fine if you bring a fender back to at least an inch or so past the bar. Or either drop the bar and do a short duck tail fender if you're going to run one that short.

Phew. That was a good laugh.

Back to the original question - NO! No fender with sissy, maybe. Short fender past sissy, maybe. Set up like that just looks... unfinished. Like somethings missing. Not in a good minimalist way, but like something fell off..

But if you like it, run it and tell me to fuck off!

Rudolf - Yeah, I blew the motor so im going through the whole thing while i'm rebuilding it. Shorty doesn't get to ride on this one. I picked up an Ironhead that I'm getting back in order right now that she'll be able to ride on.

Thanks for the input all. Like I said, i was trying to convince myself to run it like that but i'm not going to. I had a fender that went an inch past before, but it's not in the cards for the rebuild. I'll toss it on the other bike with a duckbill i've got laying around.

Jason it looked so bad this guy joined to say it looks bad.

BADASS
I didn't really like the look of it in the picts but after reading all these posts I want to build a entire bike around this idea. It is compleatly impractical, ugly and people hate it. sounds like great reason to rock that. Wish I would have thought off it and had big enough balls to not give a shit what anyone says.

Besides the fact that it looks like shit, having the bar attached only at the bottom it's doomed to crack and fall off the bike. Hopefully while sitting at Denny's and not blastin down the freeway and grabbing the tire, driving that cross right into the back of your dooo rag.

Rev, it's coming along. Got the wiring figured out. Got a new intake manifold made since the carb that came with it is a 40mm and not the stock 34mm. Just don't have the fuinds right now to buy the intake gasket and clamps, throttle cable, and a few misc other things. Rent comes first unfortunately.

If you look at it, it's only zip-tied on there. obviously i wasn't going to run it with fucking zip-ties. The idea that the fender was there to support it as well and the other way around was not lost on me.

What's wrong with zip ties? Crap, I run most of my stuff with zip ties!! ;)

i think if your gonna run that you should also run 18 inch apes with all your controls mounted to some drage bars you welded on the bottom of the apes.... makes about as much sense...

I agree.. not a good look, but that's my 2 cents.. and that's not worth much.
