Still far from done, trying to decide on the seat situation, I need a battery box and some cleaning of the front of the frame yet. I have an old hot rod fender im cutting up for the back. Not sure if I'm gonna run a sissy bar or struts yet. No paint just flat black on the frame. I'll post more as I make progress.

I was messing around with a steel frame 91 zx600, and that double backbone ended up kicking my ass. I should have just taken it out from the start like you did, but instead it frustrated me, and I gave up on it! Oh well. It lead to me getting my shovel, so no harm. I like using sportbike parts on chops.

I got to figure out how to put a larger picture up
OK guys here i will blow your minds on NEW bikes Chopped GSXR CBR and others
There is a young dude here in NJ who is the best of the best and if he had the proper backing in my thinking this kid would go far. If you never heard of him check out his work.

Ransom been around a while. I like his Idea, but his execution is lacking.... plus he thinks hes the coolest guy alive, and that hes on a mission from God.
Plus I find fundamental faults in his bragging, like that he uses 'seamless DOM tubing' (there's no such thing) to make the 'Lamborghini of motorcycles'
there is already the Lamborghini of motorcycles, Its called Ducati.

Cant deny that a 180+hp 16000 RPM bike would be a blast though!

Well everyone is doing there own thing these days so i can't knock him for what he beleaves in but i met him at ATCO RACEWAY back a couple years ago with the red bike and the detail down to the little rubber gromets that he put on the bike blew me away. I met another guy while doing a bike show in north jersey and he had two bikes built one for him and one for his wife they were up there on price but details were WOW!! He built the first couple bikes out of a tiny garage too. So i got to give him credit and would love to make a 1/4 mile pass on one.OLD DRAG RACER LOVE SPEED SORRY

Rich I love that bike! I had came across a picture of it doing a google search. Saved it. Then my computer crashed. I was bummed to lose all the pictures from my daughters first year but losing the bike pics really stings. I've tried searching for that 1 a bunch of times but no luck. Maybe I'm fucked up for missing the bike pics more than pics of my daughter, but whatever. Hahaha

Looks good. I did something similar on my CB750 that I'm still working on. I added a bunch of gussets because I don't want any problems. Something someone recommended to me that I've done and I'm sure will help with the strength of the frame is where your front section meets the rear section on the bottom I added a short piece of tubing that finishes up the frame. Here's a pic of mine to show what I did.

In hind sight I should have cut the lower rail back a little more and put a slug in the upper and then attached the tube for more strength and less work in coping it to fit, and then later filling that oblong hole.

I like that way you did frame COOL. All of my bikes are on YOUTUBE after each build i do a video for customer. That KZ 650 was a blast to drive. I was living in STATENISLAND and raced a Vette on the 440 with that bike going to a local show. Vette caught me top end but we were way over125mph when he caught me. I built that for a COP and he sold it to another COP in North Jersey.
It smoked that 200 tire on back no problem and for a 650 with a little mods it was cool.
Me too lost a lot of my pictures of bikes i built and now only have pictures of last years bikes. But i do have pictures of that bike if you want them. I am doing now a TURBO KZ 1000 chop- two XS 650 Chops- CB550 Chop- and a TURBO XS 650 MONO BIKE. I screw up last year and took too much work in and pissed everyone off so only doing 8 bikes this year. Telling everyone else to go to other builders.
LATER KEEP CHOPPING

I love the looks of these jap bikes when they are all cut and tied together properly. It looks like yours is going to be a mean one when finished. Happy wrenching.

When I see a nicely done rigid on a KZ it makes me second guess using my 550 as a cafe project. The profile of that tail is prefect! Did you stretch the tail any?

Keep sharing the progress!

Thanks man!!!! The bike is the stock length. I wanted to keep the "bike" as small and skinny as possible and let its beefy engine stick out. I guess im going for a pregnant lane splitter look lol

Here is the fender I built for my chop. I'm running with a mild frankenstein theme. I dig it. I cut an inch out the middle of an old trailer fender, welded it back together on the back side leaving a gap, then drilled holes every inch and laced it up with some steel wire.

Thanks for all the kind words...

There's no such thing as seamless DOM tubing? Someone should tell these distributors that they fucked up then...

like the rear fender idea, any other things planned to stick with that theme? ive been watching this project since im working on a 650 right now. keep up the work! and keep us posted

livingdeadmc
02-06-2011, 6:01 PM
as far as the theme goes....Ive bee trying to keep it lite but yea...the foot pegs are one inch industrial bolts (like franks neck bolts) Ive also got some leather belts to make the tank look strapped down (like he was strapped to the table) also Im planning to put some spot welds on the tank like it was pieced together, under the seat im going to make a four inch wide plate, the bottom will hold the electronics and on top Im gonna put an old oversized throw switch (like what brought him to life) and then the bat box will be done in the same fashion as the fender. And last but not least Im getting some lettering done on the tank.....prolly a qoute from the book or one of the movies....THANKS!!!

Do you have any plans for the front fender?? i got a KZ and don't like the look of my stock fender, but most of these models front fenders are both a fender and a fork stabilizer.
Any suggestions?

thats sounds good! enough for the bike to make sense... not just a crazy rear fender... but not so much that it screams theme like an occ bike haha
