What are the differences between the BSA Thunderbolt and BSA Lightning? I have a chance to buy a Thunderbolt from a friend, 1972 -- running and all. Was this a good bike? What are the differences between the 2 models?

Yup, what he said. They're pretty much identical other than that.

Great bikes. I love mine. They don't really have the collector value of the pre OIF's, but thats ok cause it makes em affodable. You should look to spend about 2500-3200 for a complete, running and titled oily frame beezer. More or less depending on condition.

Heres mine

Only difference is head. Interchange everything on the top to bottom. As mentioned, one was mild, the other was wild. And yes, pretty much bulletproof bikes.
