Looks like a lot of fun. Any more pictures of the bike showing it profile better, the action shot makes it look killer.

Performance? that is awfully big for a small motor like that. sure it sounds badass though. Im guessing its a blow though carb? what mods did you do to get it to work right?

ZUnit
01-02-2011, 9:50 PM
Im no turbo expert and I didnt wanna be a naysayer but it does look too big even for a 450 rebel let alone a 1.6L like an Omni GLH or a Capri. Does it build any boost before redline? Have you hooked a boost/vacuum gauge up to it? How much pressure does it build up. I still wanna see some specs and a vid tho. The ingenuity is still fuckin sweet and im all about backyard engineering.

SOKfab

i havent put a boost gauge on it yet, but it does spool up before redline, but not much it is big but definitely an eye catcher lol, i did it for the fab work and pretty much for looks, not looking to blow the motor,or increase the power by much, i have to adjust the fuel it starts leaning out under heavy thottle, too much air! and yes its a blow through setup,

ZUnit

Well fuckin A as long as its fun. Im not trying to turn this into a fucking shop build. If its fun then do just that

i can tell you how to get the carb to work right, i'm making 10psi with a home built blowtrough on my kz750 and it's ridiculously fast, i have ridden it across the country twice now, so you know it's right. if you leave it lean under boost you WILL nuke the pistons. ask me how i know. what's the a/r on the hotside of that turbo? also what's your inducer diameter?

Its cool, definitely diffirent, but looks like that with some work it could be more operational and be a real beast!

hey turbonate ,i wanna run it with out going lean, i could use some of ur knowledge!

Draw thru would look sick, and probably work quite a bit easier wouldn't it?

All my turbo stuff has had programmable fuel injection, so I might be talking out my ass.

I do think a pair of side draft webbers would look sick hanging off the inlet of the turbo though...

Cool as shit but what type of boost and what kind of TURBO with two Exhaust pipes . Waste gate fixed or adjustable. I am doing one on a XS 650 but its much smaller.
GREAT JOB

all wastegates are adjustable. Id imagine a gt28'ish size turbo would be hella fun.

That would be the wastegate dump. Wastegate is external to the turbo, so it needs it's own "exhaust".

on the Rebel forum he posted that the turbo got removed. couldn't get it running right, thought it was a spark/coil problem.

Nice. I really hope you upgraded the valve springs; otherwise they will start to float at too low a psi. You said it was more for show; so that may not be an issue to you...cool fab work.

no problems so far except turbo seals. think its just the used pos turbo. replaced them one. reduced the oil pressure and about to do it again. ran it today with no exhaust pipe, pissin oil and it ran like a boss.
