View Full Version : Any two stroke Flat Trackers out there?

12-22-2010, 6:42 PM
I'm thinking about putting one together, as i have a 76 yz400 engine laying around, as well as a set of front forks, and steel gas tank off of a dt400.

Any pics or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas Bitches.

I did a 1976 Honda Elsinore MT250 up as a flat tracker. I will see if I can find some pics...

this rd is pretty f'n sweet, http://omarsdtr.com/gallery106.html

I was thinking about using my rd400 but thanks to my new job it doesn't look like I'll be getting to the track anytime soon... I came across a few other rd and two stroke flat track race bikes whilst looking for parts, they are out there but certainly not as common

I used to deal with a guy named Neil in Tenn. that raced an rd350....I will have to look thru a bunh of zipdrives to find some pics, neat neat tracker he had. I do know he got hurt racing and was laid up quite awhile. If I find em I will post em in a few days when I am back to where I can get to em.

That RD is really cool. The owner also happens to live in the Minneapolis area as i do, so i will probably hit him up. He used to own Omars (now based out of CA) but still runs "Phil Little" racing and is making street tracker body kits for sportsters.

I have a '76 Aermacchi/Harley SX250 2-stroke. Started out building a street tracker, but decided to go ahead and run it in the vintage classthis coming summer. Been awhile since I took pics, but it still looks pretty much like this:

Found these gems online. Of course i had to include the ultimate two stroke machine, King Kenny's TZ750 flat tracker.

Competed in my first flat track last week in Cambridge Mn. Rode my stock 1976 Yamaha it400 enduro with the lights removed and a smaller tank. Not exactly a flat track bike but i managed to get it around the track a bunch and had a blast. Definately gonna start a flat track build for next season. Probably a 1976 IT400 spare engine i have dropped into a dt400 twinshock chassis. definately gonna be a budget build.

I talked to a guy that took a ride on a TZ 750 road racer around a track. He had several years experience racing liter bikes and he said it was the most horrifying thing he had ever been on. I think he said he took two laps before he brought it back in for fear of death.
