Trying to figure out exactly what this is. Anyone know? I might be picking it up later but I just can't figure out what it is.
Looks like a cub frame? But definitely not a cub motor.
Can anyone help I'd this thing? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

because they came in 350 and 500 right ? I was thinking when looking at it that it could have been a 350 also but the 500 was a 350 bottom end for a bit in the beginning at least that is what I remember reading ...

I was gonna say no way thats a standard triumph frame cause of that weird goose neck lookin thingy, but i think you might be right. Looks like someone removed the top tube. WTF? Or is that how cub frames came? What a mess!

looks like a later model T100 motor in an earlier T100 frame, they had a removable top frame bar.
The engine and frame numbers will tell the story

the 3 TA & 3 TA came out with the frame no top bar under the tank , thats a standard 3ta 5 ta frame wheels will be 18 inch as well , so what are engine no s :banghead:.
hate to say it torch but the frames never had a removable top bar .

Cooter,
we have two pre 1965 500 frames in our shop that have the " frame strut" bar that is removable in them, The book clearly shows 1965 and before had the removeable "frame strut" in the Clymer manual on page 193, Then in 1966 Triumph never drilled the mounting holes and welded the bar in place then in 1967 Triumph went to the 650 unit style 500 frame. The numbes on that frame will clear everything up if we can get them..
We also have a 3TA with 17" wheels and a Cub in our shop and they do not have a bar and uses a reinforced gas tank as a structual part of the frame like the cub does.http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/qq294/A1dunn/500strut.jpg
