If you’ve got a look that makes a statement, we want to see it. To enter the ChopCult Trend Humper Sweepstakes, upload a photo of your favorite biker kit in this thread. We'll pick the dopest (or dopiest) entry on September 15 and add 2,000 ChopCult miles to the winner's odometer.

Please, one photo entry per CC member only, and the subject is fashion: not stretched Hayabusas, lifted minitrucks, chopped Honda Rebels, etc.

If nobody enters what is obviously a stupid photo contest, we'll just start a thread about monkeys on minibikes, dogs wearing hats, or perhaps another rant about those shiftless motherfuckers at The MoCo Stealership (I'm KIDDING!--that thread's been beaten to death.)

Have fun, gentlemen, and don't take me or this too seriously. Remember--it's just the Internet.

For more info on this photo sweepstakes, go here. (http://www.chopcult.com/news/articles/chopcult-photo-contest-the-next-big-thing.html)

Comments made on the original story for this photo contest lead me to believe a good number of you/us are missing the point.

I took no shots at Willie G. or H-D in my lead-in, and quite frankly, neither he nor his grandfather's withering beast of a motorcycle factory deserve blame for the point of my story.

Lest anyone missed it, the point of my story is that mainstream media has shined a light on popular "biker style" and culture, and now we ALL look like posers.

In the subtext of that story I tried to get everyone to look at themselves. Not with a jaundiced, "(Insert name here) is fucked!" attitude, but from a less self-righteous, more self-deprecating perspective.

I've read the anti-MoCo rants on this and other forums, and I've written some lengthy ones myself. Like many of you, I loathe Harley's blatantly youth-targeted "all sizzle/no steak" marketing initiatives of late, but probably for a different reason.

Because I've worked in the marketing game for 25 years, I know what Harley is doing, and I know why they think it makes sense.

What they are "doing" is gorging at the trough of their smarmy ad agency's feet.

The hip, young, stylish "creatives" at these agencies are ramming their brand of brand-building bullshit down Willie G's throat, and H-D marketing managers are eating it up.

"You're cool, Harley--make sure you say so!"

"That's rad, Willie G--kids these days love matte black tribal skulls!"

I know this because these same tactics have been a part of my job description for the previous 18 years, with one critical difference:

I tell my clients what they need to hear--the sideburns and sockhats at Carmichael Lynch tell Harley what they want to hear.

Telling clients what they need to hear is almost always a recipe for unemployment, but the truth is what lets me sleep at night.

And today "the truth" is simply this:

Harley truly believes they ARE cool, and that their bikes ARE popular with a new breed of biker.

Judging by the number of 20-something dudes on ChopCult who own late-model Sportsters, Harley (and its goddamned ad agency) might be right!

If everyone with an opinion on that subject has taken the time to express it, can we please get back to the business of building, riding and relating to motorcycles, instead of using every chance we get to soapbox against Harley.

The MoCo is a publicly traded company, and as such its goals are solitary and resolute:

Earn money for shareholders by any means necessary. If that means selling sub-$10k motorcycles to washed-up skaters and BMXers, so be it.

For our part in this mess, let me end by saying this:

Kicking a man (or a brand) when he's down accomplishes nothing, except to make the guy in the boots (or the Vans sneakers) look like a thuggish dick.

Thanks for letting me rant. Now, back to the funny photo contest…

WERE ALL TREND HOPPER'S

most of everyone is trying to be something we have seen that we've liked at one time or another.

such as some of us wear the whole skateboard punk look ...(ie) jeans, flannel, vans, old punk band shirts.

others take the im an old dirty viking biker look from the 60's -70's (ie) filthy oil stained jeans, side buckle boots, faded black HD shirt, old jean cut with period correct patches.

does it really fucking matter what this dude or that dude is wearing and if the big companies are stealing a look....somewhere down the line WE STOLE it too.

i know for a fact that as i look in old BIKER rags......to see the cool shit back then .....i dont see any of you folks...sorry....

this is just the way of life...

get over it... now lets all ride to have a beer and talk about bitches and bike shit....

I couldn't find any pics of me to upload so I had my son model my kickass helmet with the hand painted copy of a Mukai painting on the back (similar time and style of Nagel, only better). I will never paint over this historical, trend-setting piece and wear it proudly. Nothing makes a trendy statement like 80's pop culture.

My "Biker Kit", in reality, is Construction-Worker-Chic. Black Carhartt pocket T, blue jeans and black Redwings (w/ the American flag in the laces). Doesn't matter if it's Sunday morning, you catch me off guard and I am cutting the grass, Tuesday afternoon in a foreman's meeting or in Sturgis blasting through the mountains. (It's what I've got on right now.) It's always the same, I'm lowbrow and love it.
No vans, no chain-wallet, no bandanna, Raybans or Dickies and in lieu of the flannel I choose a Carhartt zip-up black hoodie. It was an easy transition as an adult because back in my early days - it was the same - black metal Ts, blue jeans and black Doc Martins. The only difference now, is that now I am a walking "Made In The USA" catalog. No leanin' like a cholo fer me. This Metal-Kid look was around before me and I hope it stays. Long live Real Metal.

And while I'm at it, I trailered a TwinCam Softail to Sturgis. I had a great fucking time and I don't give a shit about what any fuck-stick thinks about that. How about THAT for a new trend. Not giving a flying fuck about other peoples opinions and doing what YOU want to!

Spot the fuck on man ...

I noticed today while I was running around looking for shit to fix my bike I saw like 100 bikes and for some reason every damn one had a black leather vest on ...and I couldnt help thinking to myself WTF did they start handing out Black Leather vest when you buy a bike ....Then I shrugged it off and said looks fucking lame to me but oh well ...and went back to looking for shit to fix my bike....

Point is saw a trend processed a thought about it laughed and went the fuck on ....I dont think the leather looks gay just the fact when every damn bike you see is a road king or a glider and all of them are wearing thier shiny just mink oiled vest the sight got lame ... ..

But live and let live no biggy some people wear tin foil hats doesnt mean I'm gonna ....and if it turns out what I wear turns into a trend then so be but when it runs out I'll still be rolling the same way.....And I think that is what really matters

Yup, you got it. So if all the sudden everyone starts wearing hardhats instead of helmets, with goldleaf and striping - I'll be rawkin' that look after they are on to whatever else Brad or Jesse is wearing.

And no disrespect to anyone here who wears vans, flannel, etc. I just don't. I am a nobody douche bag - small cog in the machine. I reread my post and it kinda sounded egoish. That wasn't my intent.

And the leather vest thing...yeesh. I honestly tried that once, I felt like a uber-douche.

I'm pretty sure Carhart's are made in the Orient, same as the Dickies, Levi's, etc. etc.
At one time They were made in the US, before the greed set in.

Anyone else notice the frame attached to the bike to keep it upright.

Cameras down, gentlemen. We have a winner…

Travasesino, for his shameless display of The Emperor's New Clothes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_Clothes):

<img src="http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f390/halwade/travasesino.jpg">

The first-place prize of free ChopCult miles will be added to Travasesino's odometer by sundown... just in time to hide his pasty white ass in the cloak of darkness.

Thanks for having the sack to pose naked, and the brains not to show it.

Sorry, we killed the gloves. They were great, but you can get ones just as good from WalMart or your local Farm & Fleet for less money so it didn't seem worth doing. The best thing about them was how de-contented they were but that is hard to charge $20 for when you can get Mechanix gloves with flashlights, GPS and wi-fi for about $9.00 at 7-11.

Congrats on the win, Trav, ironic that Hal picked a naked dude!

hahah man I loved your gloves! someone gave me a pair and I wore the shit out of them. I would have bought ten pairs but yet again....couldn't find smalls hahah fuck being pocket sized.

and for the record my Biltwells held up longer than Mechanix...I used them every night at work for months.

I normally start my day of riding by laying out my "kit" and photographing it.
Then I will wonder what the baristas at my local starbucks may thing as I roll up and dismount my steed..I then will post it on my blog to see if I get any bad feedback on my choice for the day..
here's an example:

What's Spleenstring doing on an American bike anyway? Seems to me he hates the country he profits from.

Broken teeth, welder's hats and sports drink cocktail holsters are all the rage at Myrtle Beach Bike Week. At least during the karaoke jams.
