Hey all I am working on checking out a 59 triumph 6T a guy has for sale ..

Story goes the engine is completely apart there is 3 frames one has a a title and matches numbers on frame and title ..couple wheels a set of forks yada yada the egnine is a 57 thunderbird by the numbers ...So no matching complete bike but yet a complete bike ...

I know some about pre's but I am more educated in the units .... Is there anything I should look at on this bike or for ? that would tell me to run away ?

thanks in advance for any tips you might have ...

yes.
Pre unit's cost alot more than a unit to build from ground up. completely worth it if you have the money, time and patience.

and remember, not all pre unit parts are intertchangable with eachother.
believe me,i learned the hard way.

how much does he want for all of it?
wondering if it is a fair deal or not.

He said $1100 I think I can get it for $950 or $1k gear box is there all the engine 2 extra frames wheels and he says alot of extra parts so who knows what that is ....Some one must have already started to build a chop out of it though cause all the frames are hardtailed even the titled 59 frame ,which should be a swing arm frame...if I am right anything after 55/56 was swingarm

Price sounds fair, to me a title with a matching frame and motor is worth the price, especially if you scoop it up for $900.. Sell off the other bits and frames and end up with a free titled project. Pre unit motors are super simple, as long as you have the bulk of it no problem, slam that thing back together in a weekend if you have everything you need on hand (gaskets, any replacement bearings etc).. I would definitely go look at it.

Hell yea just got off the phone with the owner again.... headed there tomorrow 3 hours 45 minutes one way gah!

He said he got digging making sure he has everything out to show me and now he says there is 2 front ends, a extra set of trees, crates with all the mount plates, levers, gear box... on and on ....

I am getting super pumped about this one .....Pre units is what got me going on triumphs back when I was like 7 yrs old my brother restored a 58 T110 and I was hooked on trumps ever since.....

I am going to build this one and sell parts I have left over so heck yea i'll let ya guys know what I got I don't need before I ebay it incase someone needs it here....Laters

Great find. I bought my '53 6T 14 yr ago. There is always a story to these finds, mine is no different. Bike was not advertised for sale. It belonged to a woman who was in her 70's. It was being half heartedly sold by a friend of hers. She had learned to ride with this bike. She was the original owner, and still had the orginal Bill of Sale for the bike. It was bought in Philly, in '53 at a dealer on Broad St. ( Long since gone). The price $550. The bike it seems was bought by her boyfriend (who was married), for her. They were together nearly 40 years. Her boyfriend had just died( still married) and she had a hard time even looking at the bike. So she decided to sell the bike. When I went to pick up the bike, she asked if I wanted any of the other triumph stuff he had. I said show me what you got. The 2 car garaged was filled to the ceiling. Boxes on top of boxes. A good 20 ft x 20 ft, 10 ft high. She said just take it away, PLEASE. I told her that I had to pay for it, just taking it away didn't seem fair. We agreed $500/ sight unseen. What I bought, changed my life forever. Hopefully, your purchase will do the same for you.
