Simple and cheap was what I was looking for after pricing internal fork stops. Here is what I came up with:
Somebody had already butchered my frame so I just worked with what they left me.
I used this little block I made for drilling and tapping strait holes:

I needed to stop the bolt head from scratching my freshly powder coated tree, so I machined groove in head and slipped a rubber o-ring over it:

Any signs of bending and I can jump up a size on the shoulder bolt by drilling holes out for 1/4"-20
