I live about 45 minutes from Mt. Airy in va. In the summer when you leave Va. and get close to there,on 52{?} it's like you hit a wall of heat right before you get in Cana. I bet the temp go's up 15 degrees. You should ride through Pearisburg sometime, it is very nice. perfect roads, and friendly folks.

JB, What do ya ride? I've heard the police in n.c. don't like straight pipes, is that so?

My old reliable ride is an '80 FLH, 90cu.in. I've got a '76 FXE, and an '85 FXWG. Also a bunch of projects (I'm a bit of a procrastinator. )

You won't have any problems with open pipes as long as you're not showing your ass too much. The FXE was running 32" drags, which can be rather loud. Too loud for me (tinnitus ) so I had to quiet it down.

Hard to beat those old SuperGlides. They are truly the bikes that SAVED Harley Davidson from bankruptcy.

The 75 was about 95% stock when I got it and ain't far from it now. Came from the south side of winston salem. Struck me as being junky in it's stock condition. But all the bugs are gone now. Is there much pre evo stuff on the road down your way?

No, not even much evo stuff. I have a shop, work on twentieth century HD, no twinkies, no rubber Sporties. I have plenty to do, so there are a lot of older bikes around, you just don't see them on the road very often. Maybe we can get together when it warms up, I'll show you a place near you where old iron is respected. You'll like it.

The CBA swap meet is March 23 - 24 at the Rowan Co. fairgrounds just east of Salisbury, NC. That is a good meet, and maybe within your range of operation.

No, but he's got a great thing going. I was thinking of DeadParts MC. Same circle of people.

I'd like to go to the swap this year but I haven't worked much and money's tight. And sure enough I would see something that I just HAD to have.

So what types of older scooters would folks in that area ride? Loud paint, long front ends, stockers, chops, what? Where I live is pretty lame ,there are a few around but rarely out and about.

I don't really know first hand because I've only ridden through there but it's a small area/not many people so I'd bet not that many vintage bikes get ridden......
