So here's the first bike I built earlier this year, took me about 6 months because of financial and health issues. It's a 1982 XJ750 Maxim, shaft drive. Take it easy on me it's my first bike and my camera sucks LOL

Thank you.

Yes and no, you don't have to do anything to the backbone but you do have to cut the two other rails back to where the sporty tank ends. It doesn't sit perfectly on there but you can make it work. A sporty tank tunnel fits right over the backbone and you just have to fab up a mount for your coils. Also you want to reinforce your top rail but running some type of brace from the backbone to the neck or just below the neck. See below.

No actually I had a friend of mine tig weld it for me, looks much nicer than I could do for sure.

did a little work tonight, I got a new tank for it and a new white biltwell seat is on it's way. Yes my welds look like crap but they are pretty strong.

So I broke down since I got in kind of a hurry to get ready for my ride next weekend and found a guy that could make me an exhaust by Monday. So I dropped it off this morning.

I've got a '82 XJ750 that I'm actually thinking of going somewhere between an older cafe/street bike, but with some bobber aesthetics. Who hard tailed that thing and is that ammo box for your battery or just extra storage? I like the new tab for the tank b.t.w. the whole thing is rad. New to older Yamaha's I've got a '81 CB650 that's gonna get on the chopping block soon. Anyway good shit man nice to see these under-appreciated "shafty's" getting their due.
