Figured I'd ask before I attempted to wedge the top section off. I'm assuming there are bolts under there, but do you screw or pop the top section off? Haven't tried yet.

Looks like the type that screw off
usually there is a short stud in the center
small rubber strap wrench usually does the trick
Penetrating oil and Heat can I be your friend

The top caps screw off. Then there will be 4 allen head bolts to loosen or take off. Once the bars are removed there is a allen bolt that holds the riser on. I recommend replacing those bolts with grade 8 or better I had one snap on me and luckily I was not blasting down the interstate when that happened.

I find that an angle grinder works better, But you've got to use a grinding disk not a cut of wheel. Less sharp metal spurs you know.

I mostly quit using grinding rocks unless I get 'em in bulk cheap.

Flap discs are life. Flap discs are love. Buy online or at local welding supply to avoid chain store assrape.

6" cutting discs spun by my Metabo are life, love and cold beer on a hot day.
