I'm pulling my '75 motor out to get the frame hardtailed. While im waiting I have a few things to figure out. Mainly I'm wondering if I can do a inner/outer primary swap which will allow me to get rid of the inner that has holes for electric start? I'd like to run a closed unit, rather than open belt. It's not a wet sump setup, just pressure lubed. I'd be fine using an old school tin primary cover or newer style, just don't want to have to do it the hokie way and block off starter holes like I'm doing now. What fits? Ideas?

My buddy has it done on his bike, I can't remember what exactly he used. But Paughco makes a inner primary for exactly what you need. Keep in mind you won't have that mainshaft support with a tin primary. Paughco's part is P/N 754, listed on the first page here.

This may also help.
