A day later it looked like this, mock up of the tank fitment

And now it sits like this

And started making the suicide shifter using the stock foot shifter

I'm making my own ''bolt on'' springer front end and working on something unique for the fender and tank, well I think its unique I havent seen anything like it yet, stay tuned

I'm very curious about this springer you're building. I'm assuming you're gonna put the clutch on the shifter?

Never cared for the idea of putting the clutch on the shifter itself didn't really like the look to much either but your doing some pretty nice work so far so maybe you'll convince me otherwise. Looking good so far man kept it up

Nicest looking Vulcan I've ever seen. I worked at a Kawasaki dealer for a decade, this thing would help me sell Vulcans if we had it in the showroom.

Nice bike Dom!! That carbon fibre and wood grain is definitely a cool combo. Did you build the Springer yourself?

LeDom
06-06-2017, 9:41 AM
Thanks guys!
Yes built the springer myself

What about the radiator and the filler neck? I was wondering how you are going to integrate it into that nice clean design. Great job on the bike!

Hey there. Love your bike, so gorgeous. I am hoping you can post a close-up of the jockey shifter. Specifically how the shifter and linkage are set up

Won best bike award at a local show, I'm happy like a kid at christmas

For the shifter close up You can see on the first page where I welded it to the frame, I used a bicycle inverted lever to activate the clutch

I've been working on the wiring and thinking about using a motogadget m unit. Anybody ever used one on a late model bike like the vulcans? Any concerns I should know about? Just trying to end up with the smallest amount of wiring/relays

Thanks!

I don’t have any direct experience with them. But the guy who runs the local Co-Op motorcycle garage swears by them. He’s put them on a few dozen customer builds he’s helped with and the feedback has been great. They definitely require a solid knowledge base in wiring, but other then that they’re great.

LeDom

Well I built other bikes using the M unit already and that thing rocks when it comes to simplifying wiring, I just wanted to know if anyone ever used it on a vn800.
anyway, bought it, gonna draw a diagram and post it here if anyone ever need it in the future. This thing is gonna start before christmas.

Oh well I got submerged by clients bikes this spring so didnt get much done on the vn

but now that the shop is empty I will work on it every day.

Fab'd a custom coolant pipe to get rid of the big ugly thing that was there

Final touches on the exhaust

https://i.imgur.com/SD6ZVUhh.jpg

Decided to go with conventional shifting/clutch, I want to ride it and be able to sell it if I have a good offer, still had to keed the clean look I was looking for for the bars so went with internal cables

https://i.imgur.com/XuPKauSh.jpg

Got the electrical box done and powdercoated and started wiring everything

And this is pretty much it

I thought the VN800 looked better than the 1500.
It (VN800) can also be converted to chain drive instead of belt drive.
Was it chain drive stock?

That seat cannot be comfortable,it needs to be level.

LeDom
07-26-2018, 11:54 AM
Thats a vn800, it comes original with chain drive

For the seat I know I'm gonna make another one, I made this one while the bike was on the bench without the front end fabricated and I decided to make it a little longer than the origina forks so it's way too angled.

Spent yesterday's night making the ''caliper bracket's retainer'' or whatever you wanna call it
all custom made
https://i.imgur.com/x5qBo9jh.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/V69LvH1h.jpg

And the front end is now 100% done
https://i.imgur.com/c5xSV4wh.jpg

Today I'm making the seedometer's bracket.
stay tuned
