Hi there,

this will be my first thread so i'm stil figuring out how to add images and stuff.
also most photo's are made with my mobile phone so they look like shit.

i'm currently working on my Honda Rebel 450.
the plan is to drop, stretch and hardtail it
also i'll be adding a sportster style tank and probably a king&queen seat

all other decisions will be made along the way

it started out like this:

Ready for teardown!

after a short afternoon tearing it down:

i ordered a universal hardtail kit from TC Bros(along with some Chopcult patches cause this forum kicks ass), but before i could chop the rear end off i wanted to make some sort of a ghetto style frame jig.
made a window with 80x40 tube to act as a frame jig.

hardtail kit received :)

with the kit received i noticed you had to cut a slot in the tubes to slip over the axle plates and then weld them together.
i didn't like that so i decided to make some slugs that slides into the tubes and over the axle plates without cutting the tubes
i'm still figuring out how to include a vid so that'll be one for later.

setting up the jig for exact axle placement

tack welded the tubes to get it all aligned. still some flaws but i'll get that straightened out

still have to weld in the (crossmembers?) in between the upper and lower legs but it was time to call it a day and decided to do a quick mockup.

Looking good. Was it not already hardtailed when you got it? I don't see the suspension in the first picture.

Thanks.
technically it was hardtailed, yes. The previous owner made struts but i didn't like the look of them in combination with the swingarm. so i decided to make it a true rigid

it's on hold.
i've moved to a smaller workshop and i'm also working on my shovelhead so i don't have the space or time now.
but i will definitely resume after that
