ok, i recently bought a 1982 suzuki gs450tz. It was a bobber project that the guy started but didnt care to finish. The bike had no speedo when i bought it and i have been looking for one online, but every one wants a lot of money for crappy, beat up, broken speedos. I have found some for other bikes that are of better quality and my questions is do they interchange well from make to make?

thanks for any help
Mike

I have been doing a lot of research over the last week and i think i may have figured this one out. for those who would like to know this is the jist of what i have found.

2240:60 speedos are for 16" and 21" wheels
2.1:1 speedos are for 19" wheels
1:1 speedos are mostly for transmission drive setups

in theory the speedo off a bike with a 19" wheel should work properly on any bike with a 19" wheel. that is at least what i have gathered from the past weeks research. could be right, could be wrong, but i have come to belive that it is at least damn close.

I've heard that too ( I think on cyclex) but in my experience, rice 19" wheels use 2240:60 also

I don't think it's safe to generalize based on wheel size.
