5 years ago I started this project. Life got in the way and being responsible and staying out of debt and finishing college has put this bike on the back burner. Its almost rolling now, stay focused, keep life simple and laugh.
78 cb750 engine around many stock Honda parts on a cycle x boxer frame.

Took me 3 years of fucking off and putting mine on the back burner before it was to a point where I could ride it. At least yours doesnt look to be another one of the hack shit "bobbers" you see frequently.

That 1978 CB750 had the best engine of all the CB750's. It had about 22 improvements over the 1969 model. The engine cases were thicker in way of the chain so the heavy #630 chain would not go through the case. Modern chains are better and you can now use a chain as small as #520.
There was one exception... the carbs. Those EPA carbs were heavy and not really tunable.
IF you can find a set of 1969-70 carbs they were the best. You could remove the slides without removing the carbs from the motorcycle.
There were no heavy linkages on top of the carbs. The idle adjust was marked so that you could easily tell if the slide was bottomed out.
The choke was a simple lever that flipped up and down. You could easily adjust the pilot air screws from the sides and not burn your hands.
The float bowls were removable with a simple clip. You did not have to remove the carbs from the engine to remove screws on the bottom of the float bowl.

One more thing .... Those alloy rims came stock on the CB750A (automatic).
They were 6 lbs lighter each, than the stock steel rims.

There is a product now better than clear spray.
It is made by Loctite company and available at Home Depot. It is a dark blue spray can with red Logo.
It converts rust to a paintable surface.
Those rust blooms will eventually penetrate the tank.
You can spray it on light rust. 84866

How do you register the cycle x frame, by engine number, or frame number and year built?
