Hi...

I was under the impression that just distilled water would do as coolant, but when I took my VLX apart and drained the old coolant, it was 'alien blood' green.. Definitely not just water.

We are ready to pour new coolant in soon and wondered if that was just regular antifreeze or was it a mix of antifreeze and water??

Your coolant passages and components are a mix of plastic, rubber, steel, iron, and aluminum. Recipe for quick corrosion with the wrong fluid.
Just water is better than the wrong antifreeze. But will still do damage in a relatively short time
Look for antifreeze that's labeleed as "aluminum safe" or compatible with whatever.
