WTF? How is it that skateboard kids and motorcycles are a combined fad? Is that a So Cal thing? I mean, most guys in thier 30's cant ride a skateboard for shit. I am seeing a current trend of young 'old school' guys wearing dickies, skate shoes, flat brim sideways ball caps, wallet chains, and surrounding themselves with stripped down lane split choppers. It is kinda like people are dressing up for Halloween.

And they talk about how they remember the way things were in the 70's when dudes were rollin around on choppers. Yet they were not even born yet!! Or they were too young to really know.

Just fuckin weird how people play act these roles and believe the script!

LMFAO! People are always lookin to be "origianl" as long as there is a group of people being the same kind of "original" with them.
I could go on and on about this; but there's no reason to, it's pretty self explanitory.

this is who people are hating on now?

fucking jesus. can't skateboard on public property, and now i can't turn in my skateboard for a bike. what other hobby can we weasel into and pollute?

because christ knows every dude that has a bike and ISN'T a skater is a legit biker to the max!

I understand the draw to both skateboarding and riding. I used to get my thrills from one,
after years of body abuse I now get them from the other. If someone wants to blatantly lie to fit in,
that's their problem. It goes way beyond skating or riding though, fake people are everywhere.

We have the same problem in Canada but it's pogo sticks and quads.

^^^ those guys are 2 legit!^^^

Maybe I should be a little more specific. The flat billed hats! I hate them. Skateboarding is cool in my book, I sucked at it, got the scars and bone chips to prove how badly I sucked. I hate how people need to be filed into a specific group or sub-group.

Shit I were skate shoes and a wallet chain and talk about how cool the 70's were, so I guess I'm half there.

Hey CRFyou down here in Nebraska every town has a public skate park, part of an "outdoor initiative" thing. Some of them are wicked nice. I would say I wish they had them when I was a kid; BUT if they had, I would prolly be a cripple.

I think I might have had a point; but I can't remember what it was.

haha those guys are pretty rad. at least they make me laugh.

i realize there will always be a cyclical problem of old school guys hating on the younger ones. but there will always be someone who was there before. unless you're the wright brothers. those guys started that shit.

there's enough douche bikers to hate on. in my opinion people that skate or used to skate and fuse the two mediums are not the enemy. it's a natural progression for most people. and if some skaters are keeping 40+ year old bikes on the road, then it's a far better thing they do than they have ever done before.

i wish there were skate parks in every city when i was skating in the 90's. maybe i wouldn't have tried to kick flip the 5 stairs at my high school. 100% of the time i ate shit doing that. i could only land an ollie down that shit.

So at what point did wearing full leathers, a bandana, and growing a goatee go from play acting to just being? What should these young fellers with thier crazy attire be wearing? Do we all need to change clothes (other than for safety if you care to) just to ride?

If your Harley dealership t-shirt isn't clean do you not ride?

I wear vans, wear a hat (not sideways mind you, but still known to crown a trucker hat) and skateboarded as a kid. Now I have a 77 CB750 that I'm choppin' myself. My father had a '50 panhead when I was young and I still remember hangin out with his biker friends. They all seemed to not give a shit what people thought of them and I guess that attitude carried over to me. who the fuck cares what I look like and what I ride? FTW mean forever 2 wheels, among numerous others... not FHD cause hell, even HD couldn't hold on to their own company the whole time... I'm just sayin', why do your clothes make the man? I'm to busy ridin', not checkin' out what everyone is wearing.

i started skateboarding when i was 11. i was very dedicated for years. i skated up until my first born turned about 4. i was the only one working and i fucked myself up pretty bad and couldnt work for about a month. im 32 now and i still own a skateboard, have a mini in my back yard and own a harley . yes im 32 and still "dress like a skateboarder" cause thats what ive been into most my life. i grew up with biker parents so it was alot easier for me to "rebel" and wear fucked up clothes and have shitty haircuts. about ten years ago i was in alabama at capitol city tattoo and one of the artist said to me " you know what an old skateboarder is? a young biker." who gives a shit i dont skate anymore but dont knock skaters riding bikes. ive met all my true friends riding skateboards and riding motorcycles. hell all the guys i started skating with when i was a kid ride bikes now and we are all still tight as frog pussy. and you know that shit is waterproof

i believe it to be. the original poster was born in 1964. he was 16 years old in 1980 and if he got his first bike at 18-20 years old that dates him at 1982-1984. he was def in this game in the beginnings.

I remember that shitty skater hair cut where the front was all long and angled to one side , someone should bring that look back.
Also I was wondering where the washed up vert skaters in dayglo shorts are. Those guy's I could respect because they would be keeping it real.
One last thing did seattle copy the flannel shit or did the skaters copy it from seattle, because living in michigan in the winter months all nine of them I wear quite a bit of lined flannel and I wan't to be sure who I am copying.I am also going to take this chance to admit that I too wear van's from time to time because my parent's were too cheap to buy me air jordan's or reebok pump's and I have flat feet now and they are the only shoe's that are confortable to me.But I in no way pretend to be a O.G skateboarder.

P.S. I am keeping the dream alive even when my mother in law takes my son back to the shoe store and exchanges the vans I bought him for nike's,no son of mine is going to have decent arch support.

Wait one more thing,to whom it may concern, please ditch the bubble sheilds I personaly find them tottaly offensive, you might all say if you don't like it don't wear it and or Don't look at it but I can't god damn it!

This is the last thing ,I want to apoligize to all the too cool to post on too cool treads people out there for participating in this kind of behavor and further degrading this fine site.In closing I would like to state that there is room for all of us under this big beatiful tent we sometimes call motorcycle enthusiasm, the skaters the biker's, the hog members ,the dykes on bikes, people who look like singers in stud leather band's ,hot women with big tits, expecially them .But you get my point. Just keep a record of what the people around you wear and when a new fad comes if they change mark your book and take them to the side and say "hey buddy I've noticed you have been going through changes lately" and fake punch their shoulder and explain to them about the bird's and bee's the'll know what you mean.Throw a few champ's and they will know you care.

Have a wonderful day and a better tomorrow!

im in a band, and i look like im in a band. i wear tight jeans, tattos, guaged ears, vans(love me some slip-on's) until resently, even rocked a fashion mullet. i grew up in a family of musicians and artists. eccentric to say the least.
so i started at a young age in metal and hardcore bands. now im in a hard rock band, but thats part of what defines me a person. i am a musician. i also have built and ride my own bikes.
is it more poser for me to be who i am, just on a bike, or try to fit into what i think a "biker" should look or act like, just to fit in?

I agree with Ember ride in what you got on. Also next time the internet decides skateboarding and wearing "skateboarding clothes" is uncool/trendy please inform me. I don't want to go outside let alone ride with out the proper gear on. I would like to thank everyone who makes the decisions on what is "cool" at the moent because Im happy to be up on the trends for once. I knew the last 10+ years of dressing like this would finally pay off.

First skateboard hating, next thing internet porn hating. Be prepared.

I ride a skate every now and again, I also ride a long board every now and again too. As was stated earlier, if you haven't tried it you don't know what it's like. I also dig on the comment about an old skater being a young biker.....so true. Seeing as my scoot is my main mode of trans, I don't have time for the weekend warrior outfit that some deem necessary to wear everytime they're on the back of their bike......

Why do threads like this even start? Who the fuck cares? Go out and ride your board or bike. I'm 30,grew up skating and my dad is a biker, actually,he is a 1%'er,but that's none of your business where he was from or who he is. I always dug bikes, and I still skate, but now i skate with my little brother. I'm old enough to remember Tony Hawk skating amateur competitions,I'm also old enough to remember not to give a shit about what other people think or what they do.

I've got a theory for all of this- I didn't realize how much all of this was related until a few weeks ago- I met a chopcult member via craigslist for an oil tank. I pulled up in his driveway- he's got a lifted jeep cherokee (I'm driving my second one). We're both into old school chops- we both used to skate / bmx etc. They are pretty closely related- counter culture. I was born in '79 and my first recollection of a motorcyclist would be a group of bikers riding past me and my mom on the freeway. This is before the days of booster seats and putting kids in helmets as soon as they exited the womb. I was in the front seat. Probably 4 years old. I reached over and opened the door in my mom's '76 Malibu (red. white vinyl top). One of the dudes on this terrifying looking bike reached over and shut the door at 50 plus miles per hour. A few years later- I started skateboarding and riding bmx bikes. I've personally never fit in anywhere- EXCEPT for in counter culture areas. Skateboards? Yeah. My parents were dirt poor. We had neighborhood swap meets, doing shady deals for bike parts, skate parts etc. Building our own stuff?? Check. Cobbling together Powell Peralta decks with Motobilt trucks, Vision wheels. Ramps. etc. Scoring my first set of Z-rims for my Schwinn Predator frame and building my first BMX bike at like age 8. Thats how I learned to turn a wrench. My dad and my stepdad pretty much let me run free in each of their garages and were so supportive of everything I wanted to build. I ditched the skateboard as soon as I got a drivers license. I still remember terrorizing the neighborhood with a group of like 10 other guys on our boards. They called us "hoods". It was amazing. I wouldn't trade my youth for anything (well to do family, football team star, college paid for etc.)

The flat billed hats and the current bastardization of Vans are irritating. I agree. Skateboarding isn't dead. It's just stupid right now. Sound familiar? Chopper isn't dead. It's just stupid. i.e. 50k billet / chrome covered turds.

I'm 31 years old. I'm married. I have a two year old. My bike is just something for me to turn a wrench on. I couldn't buy a new bike. (Still broke). I had no other option but to do a couple of a shady deals and cobble something together.

I like hot rods. I like stuff that is built to be abused. Not trailered. I don't think I'd have it any other way.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, man!

I thought of something else as well after I wrote that. I've got a neighbor with a Dyna Wide Glide two doors down. Not my thing, but- If i had the cash? There would be one in my garage! That sucker starts EVERY day and he's out riding it now (and I'm on the internet). My '73 is in pieces waiting for parts and my '67 is well.... Just a frame. I can't say that I wouldn't cut it up though...

If you think about this- money (and the discovery channel) screws everything up. In the mid eighties skateboarding wasn't kosher with a lot of kid's parents at school (at least in the midwest where I grew up). I think it was '94 or '95 when football kids all started getting boards and listening to the beastie boys and green day. Now its so mainstream.

I play guitar too. I got freakin' beat up by some kids in Junior high for bringing my guitar to school because I had to walk to my teacher's house 'cuz my mom had to work late! I was talking to this older fella- He bought his first 1960 Gibson Les Paul "burst" for $500 bucks from a farmer in the early 1970's. They couldn't give those things away. Now? They sell for a quarter of a million dollars. Money screwed them up. '50's Fender telecasters for $30k? Its two boards and 4 wood screws!!!

Tattoos? Lets not even go there! My grandmother has a tattoo now!!!

Myself and most of my friends started out on bmx bikes, racing, then when that became too "conformist", we moved to street riding, then when we were tired of being injured, moving to motorcycles. It was really the more natural and adult thing to do, even though I still love my bmx bikes. Im happy that when I have kids Ill be able to teach them their first 360.

Sure are a lot guys crying over on this site about useless stuff like fashion and skateboards. No other forum did I ever see a thread about Dickies shorts but this one.

Ride what you ride and wear what you wear and stop worrying about the other guys or what they're doing.

Go ride your motorcycle or work on it instead of bitching about things beyond your control like a bunch of teenage girls. Maybe some of you are too busy picking out what type of metal flake helmet to wear or what flannel shirt matches the new tool bag or engineer's boots you bought.

Get over it.

I remember my first board in '86. It was one of those banana bords that my grandma had given me(it used to be my uncle's board). Then I got some cheap little Bruce Lee number, haha. Then in the late 80's I ended up with a cool Gator deck, then in the 90's was riding Roskopp and Natas decks. Hell, first bike I learned how to ride was in '93. Dad's Pan-Shovel. I still love both bikes and boards, and hot rods and everything in between that I like. There's no rulebook that says if you ride a scoot, you can't like anything else.

It seems as if the motorcycling community has adopted some seriously strong judgements on other types of riders, and bikes they choose to ride. I came from MX and Freestyle type dirt biking, then sportbikes, and naturally evolved to riding cruisers. Ride what you ride,be who you be. FTW

“Skateboarding and motorcycling kind of have the same energy to them, where, if I want to go out and ride I go out and ride, either on a skateboard or a motorcycle,” said Rick Eusey, a wild-haired 27-year-old, tattooed from knuckles to throat, who is a longtime friend of Mr. Bender’s. “I end up just doing my thing. I don’t need anybody else around.”

I think this about sums it up.

there's a video interview with Max Schaaf somewhere (wish I could remember) where he talks about people getting a bike and then dressing the "biker" part. Then he talks about guys posing in skate clothes too. He says the difference being, you can dress the part of a biker and nobody knows if you're posing. You can dress the part of a skater, but you can't hide it if you can't skate.

it's not the fault of skateboarding, motorcycles, bmx, moto x, H-D, Vans, Pendleton or Red Wings. I feel it's the internets fault. Every fucking fashionista on this rock is an expert at everything...except themselves. Next time you want to start, read, or post in a thread about "biker, skater, rollerblader, bmx'r, raver, emo kid" fashion, instead go outside and ride/work/clean your bike, or a friends bike, or a neighbors bike or anything else besides weighing in on that topic. 2 things will happen, you will be productive and you won't look like a kook arguing about which helmet matches your "bobber". I'm a hypocrite for posting I know, but it's my rant and I get a pass.....Now lets discuss Biltwell making those risers in taller sizes, like 8-9 inchers for us retards that love tall risers and short bars.

At just shy of 40 I still ride my cab. I wear vans when i'm walkin or skating. comfortable jeans and a baseball cap maybe a flannel if it's cold... but i live in Canada and thats just like wearing a hoodie.

I have been riding bikes since I was in grade 6 and I don't wear skinny jeans or vans when I ride. I wear engineer boots because I like having my skin still attached to my feet in an accident.

There is just too broad a brush being used to paint old skaters who ride.

hell I grew up around 1% er's but never really wanted to pretend to be one of them.

Anyone remember the term "fruit boots"?

Anyone remember the term "fruit boots"?

I'm 38 and I've been skating since 1985. I might ride my bike more than I skate these days, but I'm still a "skater", and I dress how I fucking want to.

Fruit booters is what the BMX guys called the in-liners. I just called them homos...

I am 36, have been skating since I was 12, still skate once or twice a week... Not like the 36 year olds that were skating when I was 20, though. I still charge just the same as I did when I was 20. I might have lost a little spring, but I still aim to kill it every time I get on the board.

Has everyone here over looked Loser Machine? Started by Adrian Lopez, legit pro skateboarder. Max Schaaf is another dude that is VERY credible in skating and building bikes and Jason Jesse as well. I've skated for 25 years and own a skateboard shop. There are douchebags is any category. Poser skaters? Try-hard bikers? Wow, that's a huge Harley sticker in the back window of your f-150. Do you even own a bike? If you do, do you even ride it? I don't care what kind of background anyone comes from, just don't pose. Props to Bean here too...

So my half pipe experience is drop in from the lip, turn right, turn right, turn right, then I usualy fall down or run out of breath. either way I sit my old ass back down on the bench and watch the boy skate. and he rides his dirt bike flat out. at 9 my boy is 10 times cooler than I ever was.

Why do threads like this even start? Who the fuck cares?

No idea.

But the amount of haterade being flung toward skaters, "hipsters", rubber-mount riders, people who wear a ball cap differently, those who happen to wear vans or similar shit, is astounding. "I'm a real (insert whatever)"... "no, I'm a legit orig (whatever)..." "are not" "am too" "whaaaaaaaa".

I was visiting my grandmother in a retirement home a while back, buncha old ladies sitting around quilting and shit, and THEY were less catty and chatty and obsessed with judging people for things that don't matter at all than a bunch of the people around here and other forums.

I agree. up in canada dickies and flannel are work clothes, people wear them when they ride their bike after work. they should bring a change of clothes to work to stop from looking like skater fags.

Some people could change their clothes 100 times but their still fags! Haha skating is a lifestyle for some... Same with motorcycles. If you don't fit in don't worry about it... Just do it for yourself and keep your mouth shut. I skate and ride... Love both for different reasons. I just enjoy the way they make me feel. I try not to take them so serious... It keeps them real and fun.

I started skateboarding (and BMX) in the mid '70s (yeh, I'm that old) mostly long board since there was a lack of bowls and parks in the midwest. I also grew up around quite a few bikers. I don't consider myself a biker, just a dude with a lifetime love of motorcycles... of all types, so yeh, I've seen the connection. I've also snowboarded, motocrossed and surfed so I think it's just an adrenalin/risk taker thing. Some folks just like to live the rowdier side of life. As with anything that slips into a fad status, you'll have your wannabe's... some of them hang in long enough to become real, some move on to the next fad, some hang on long past the time when they should have moved on to something else. The chopper scene faded and came back so you'll have your new guys, your old guys, your grizzled, angry purists. Hopefully, it will move past fad status and survive as a permanent lifestyle. Most folks don't know that skateboarding had all but died and made a return in the '70s, and survived past the fad. I don't skate anymore but every time I see a long board, I get a little heart-achey.
Cut the youngsters a little slack, some of them may be the ones that keep chops alive after reality TV has moved on.

Pick a side; wear the uniform, now march...that's the Halloween shit. So feel free to bite or buy into the associated stereotypes all you want; as to what it means to be a ______. Your board is from K-mart, so nope your not a skateboarder...Your cycle is from Japan, so nope your not a rider. These judgments come from sheep; that feel they have been playing the role long enough to know whats up.

It doesn't matter how many years someone has under their belt, playing dress up...they never knew what was up, and they probably never will get was is up. Skateboard + person = Skateboarder. Motorcycle + Person = Rider. Ideas of what makes a person more of a skater or more of a biker than anyone else...is bullshit.

Is a patched 1%er more of a biker than CEO weekend warrior? Nope. So whats different? Ones a gang member and ones a desk jockey; the motorcycle is the common bond; and the lifestyle the great divide. That's what all this judgment bullshit is all about...how one chooses to live their life; and what someone else doesn't like about it. Everyone chooses a side; then turn into style police; bitching and moaning about a uniform or lack of one, and complaining that some march to a different beat.

It's a pointless waste of time so fuck it, and ride on.

I just got a little closer to 40. I grew up in upland riding at the pipeline and baldy. I have also had shitty, leaky, loud bikes since I was 17.

Now it's just carving and a grind here and there. I just got my son a new board. I am waiting for the day I can go skate with him.

20 years later I still suck at skating but I love it.

Also 36. Been riding nonstop since I was 14. Had a brief fling with volcom and es. When I was at my peak. Not a naturally talented skater so I compensated by flinging myself down things and being generally stupid since I couldn't impress with a nollie heel flip nose grind on a 1.5 foot ledge.

Met and rode with a lot of very talented guys. Currently watching a few of the next gen shop kids making it big. I need to plug one guy in particular that has sometimes a shit rep but was the hardest working, most innovative, toughest, and faster skater I ever met who kept me going when I was ready to hang it up and made me that much better, the east coast godfather Mr Ricky Oyola. If any of you Philly guys get a chance to meet this guy. Don't miss the opportunity to have a conversation with this man.

Also in the chopper scene a man who was doing it before the bandwagon and was potentially the next street God before a harsh moto crash, Ryan Smith. He's back on board, support his ass instead of dropping more millions into Vans deep pockets and grab his shoe off Vox footwear. It's called the "shovelhead ".

And of course the original, Jason jessee maybe one of the nicest and scariest dudes I ever spoke with in my life at the same time is now on converse and looks like he lost about 40 lbs. perhaps a comeback? What I like about Jason is that he just seems to do what he wants. He could be selling bikes and gear to Japan and making bank but he doesn't seem to give a fuck, and instead of building his next 30,000 dollar build to sell Panhead he is making an old ride on lawn mower do about 60mph with a wheelie bar

I'm ranting, but just because Lizard king buys a bad ass chop and Corey duffel gets practically sponsored by triumph. Doesn't mean you can forget the original ties to the skate/bike scene. schaaf of course is doing very well and god bless him because the guy isn't a spry 22 year old and he doesn't have the tech to play x-games once a year on vert. Set up the family and be a legend in a new field. And he did it in a very short amount of time

I used to skate, although I don't rock a flat billed hat. Ive been wearing Dickies since I was 15 going to Hardcore shows and bmxing....I never understood the older generations of people getting their panties in a twist over young kids. If the guys wearing flat billed hats and wallet chains dont carry on the chop scene, then who will? Id rather a group of skater kids move in on a scene that I love than some meat head Affliction wearing asshats.

People always act like they were the OGs of shit and that the scene will never be the same after they leave. Get over it. I dealt with that shit in the music scene around here, everyone quit going to shows when the younger generation of screamo kids started showing up at shows. They didnt bother anyone, but people got an attitude just because "we listened to old school hardcore first"...who fucking cares?

I guess people just dont bother me that much. If youre a guy who digs a certain extreme sport, type of car/motorcycle, etc. and youre doing what you like, then I give you much respect. For the few people out there who just do shit because their friends do it or because its trendy, those are the people who are annoying douches.

As a wee twelve year old I had to use physics to my advantage.. Jam the foot in the tire and lean forward almost kissing the ground, then pull back and kick. The weight of the bike and centrifical force brought it around. Then timing and ninja kicks to keep it going for the illustrious double whip.

The RL Osborne hammer shin guards were a must also

My shins were forever scabby as a kid. Not to mention the chest bruises from eating it trying tailwhips. One of the kids in the neighborhood had his old man build him a half-pipe. I tried dropping in that thing on my bike ONCE. You never realize how flexible you were as a kid until you're older.

I never went to skateparks, pushing a stick with your foot was lame. :D

Yeah, and a GT was a Dyno you could buy at Toys R Us.

I never claimed to be a skater. I said I was way more into Freestyle BMX. Grinding rails at the public library to "stick it to the man" just wasn't that cool to me.
But I do know about Pushead. Apparently more than you did, if you want to measure dicks about it.

Pushead has some sick skills. That Metallica board was plain out terrible though.

Dyno's pro compe was a legit bike. And their handlebars were always kind of cool. But anything below the pro compe was for the poor kids to upgrade from
Their huffys after mom worked overtime every day for a year to afford it.

Dave voelker rode for dyno. Him and Craig grasso sort of started the whole street riding thing

Dude you don't know shit. Dyno was started in a garage in 1982 by Bob Morales.
GT BOUGHT Dyno from Morales because he knew GT had the money to put his bikes out that he didn't. Morales then went to to design GT's bikes AND do their marketing.
If you're going to try and talk shit, at least get your facts straight.

I mean what the fuck, shouldn't we at least be arguing motorcycles, instead of trying to prove what big nerds we are? I'll buy the beer, and we can insult each other until the sun comes up. Peace. :cheersmate:

I'm a big skateboard nerd, but I don't even want to start picking homeboys nonsense apart. I'd start to feel like a character on Big Bang Theory. Instead, I'm just going to remain amused that he can't post in a thread without getting in a flame war.

This is still a common thought and hot topic ? who didn't ride a skateboard or bmx. hot rods. lowriders. dirt bikes. snow board. guns. pit bulls?
I'm pretty sure we all did at one point in life.
I still ride a skateboard to my shop several times a week but I don't call myself a skater.
I don't buy into the skateboarder equals killer bike builder.

The real TV bike builders play golf. I'm no good at it and not interested but to each is own.

It's interesting that I found this post. Recently, a Pennywise song enticed me to pick up a skateboard again. I don't know what you call this. I am from SoCal. I am a new rider, (2000 Dyna Low Rider) and recently I have had an itch to get a board to just kick old tricks when I stop somewhere for a while instead of standing around smoking a cigarette or drinking a beer. I am a physically active person, even at 41. My first board was a "Jeff Phillips" and that started part of my teenage. I never became pro but I learned a few tricks. I had a quarter pipe at home and two of my friends at the time became pros. Music has also played a major influence in my activities. I started out a Metalhead and then added Punk after skating at local ramps and pools. I listened to Beastie Boys, RKL, DRI, Suicidal Tenencies, (I am even in one of their Videos "Can't Bring Me Down" and I met Mike Muir.) Youth Brigade, and even saw Christian Hosoi in person. I also saw WASP, Krokus and Iron Maiden. Today, I still listen to Minor Threat, Pennywise, and Uniform Choice. Sure, I may be a new rider, but I ain't no poser. I may not have become a pro, a rockstar, or a contributor but the culture of Punk, Skating, Metal Concerts, and even gang activity has made me the person I am today. All of that music, all of my friends, my bruises, stitches, arrest records, and heartbreaks give me the badge called "I'm the Real Thing: A product of my favorite music, attitude, and experiences" and no one or nothing can take that away from me. It hasn't, and it won't. It's the America and Freedom that I know and Live. I ride my bike in my neighborhood like I own the street and I'll take my board on a local parking lot without concern what anyone thinks or what they will do. Yes, I am an actor, because I take action. I'm Real. There are others like me out there -- Hive Fives to ya'll.

In my experience, there are 2 distinctly different types of "skaters turned bikers." For one group, it's a completely natural progression. Skate thrills replaced by bike thrills. I get that. Hell, I most likely would have been a skater in my youth except for skateboards hadn't really been invented yet. All we had were metal roller skates taken apart and nailed to the bottom of whatever piece of lumber we could find. We also didn't have Big Wheels, so fuck everybody for that.

The second group are a whole different animal. They never really were skaters. These were the kids that couldn't fit in anywhere else so they decided they needed to get in on some "counter culture." One day they just up and declared themselves skaters. They couldn't skate a lick, or maybe didn't even own a board, but they were always around and always talking plenty of shit. Sadly, this is also a natural progression. Wannabe skaters turned into wannabe bikers. They finally realized that they were too old to be hanging around the skate park so one day they just up and declared themselves bikers. They can't ride a lick, or maybe don't even own a bike, but they're always around and always talking plenty of shit.

The hard part is that us old fucks don't really know how to distinguish one from the other in any kind of timely fashion. It takes us a while to figure it out. You fuckers should print up a guidebook, complete with pictures. It would probably be a best seller.

i agree with this. thank god nobody is dressing like a poser around here but me. everyone has normal clothes with a hd tag on everything, and big wide gay apes and the fattest rear tire they can fit. i fit into the greaser uniform category i guess. none of the skaters or snowboarders around here are into bikes thank god, i wouldnt want to listen to them run their mouths.

Man I took my kid to the skatepark on the weekend and realized I still like it, but fuck Its been a looong time since I was decent at skating, now I just roll around and try to land a few board slides and a few heel and kick flips and I'm good with my day... haha.

Skateboarding, BMX, Motocross, chops...It's all good as long as you're having fun.

then I say big thanks to Marty McFly!

I probably would have been more of a skater if I didn't suck so bad at it

now I'll carve the hell out of a longboard though...within reason...everything seems to hurt more nowadays
