View Full Version : Twin Carb single inlet manifold

Hi guys

I'm looking to do something different for my carby filters on my XS650.

I was going to run an inlet manifold out to one side with a single round air cleaner on it, so both carbs pulling through the same air cleaner.

I'm sure some of the parallel twin guys have done or seen something like this in the past. I was going to design it properly and do a basic CFD analysis in CAD so that both carbs get air etc.

Anyone got pics of such a setup? Seen it done? Any tips?

I thought I had pics of my old set up on a CB 550, but I can't find 'em. I used 2" .093 wall tube, drilled 4 holes down 1 side with a 1.5" hole saw, and TIG'ed in 2.5" long 1.5" tubes to clamp onto the carbs. I caped one end and ran a UNI air filter on the open end. It worked great, and I never had any of my plugs change colors on me, so I don't think I had any air flow issues.
Hope that helps.

cheers crawler, that's the sort of answer I was looking for. I was thinking of using a conical manifold but that's all too hard!!

any others?
