Hi guys, I'm a girl so be gentle. I am working on my first project bike. I bought a wrecked 1998 VT750 Shadow. I passed inspection and started stripping it down, in the process of converting it to a bobber. I would love to open this up to your ideas and advice! Things I want to do for sure - pipes, get rid of access wires, new seat, options to move radiator, bobbed rear fender, turn signals, brake light. Also what are your thoughts on fenders for bobbers. Ive never ridden a bike without a fender, how will that affect the ride. I don't want to be covered in road grime. The speedometer was destroyed, what gauges are really necessary?

Welcome Bunny.looking good so far.I'd figure a fender in if you don't want a wet back.make a mount(can you weld or know someone who can?)off the back of the frame by the shocks.doesn't need much as ya ain't having a passenger back there and a small fender.might be able to cut down the stock one.will look for pics of how I did it on my Vulcan. Welcome to the sickness.it's addictive and you'll wanna build more

Here's a thread on vn750.com that shows my fender mounting.it doesn't show the front mount under the frame below the seat, though.

I dont know the laws where you live but basically all you NEED is headlight and taillight... and technecally a mirror. Blinkers i suppose are safe but not required. Speedo optional, tachometer can go out the window

Don't wear Speedo's anymore either.;)I use the tachometer as a speedometer myself.once you get the feel of the bike and traffic around you,you will know how fast you're going by rpm's,the wind, and the feel of the bike

Thank you its good to be here! I am going to weld it to the swing arm so it has a low profile... still looking at options for the fender itself. I cant use the old one.

makes sense. To me if youre gonna take off the speedo, you may as well take off the techo to clean everything up

tractor supply has some random trailer and truck fenders. Bare metal and cheap. Swipe up one of them and start cutting it to size. They got several shapes and sizes at my location here in sunny Kansas

I know it's pedantic, but comeon, you can't put a thumper sticker on a bike that isn't a big single.

The rear fender is awesome, btw!

I have no advice to give, as I know less than anyone, but I want to offer my encouragement. Go, girl!

Im guessing "thumper" is going with the Bunnies (Bambi) theme rather than an actual big single, but I agree with you, most bike people know that term to mean something different.

But its looking pretty good. Any photos of the entire motorcycle?
