Bought a 1997 Shadow VLX for a first time build. I've seen a lot of sweet VLX builds out there. Thinking of using a lot of Blue Collar Bobber kits to get my feet wet. Looking forward to getting started, and learning a lot from the forum. Some awesome builders on here.

Hey there! The VLX is a great bike to start choppin. But if you're interested in a build, a "kit" is just a waste of money in my opinion. Me personally, I'd rather explore/do other things to make it more mine. But if you need any help, let me know. :)

Thanks a bunch! Ya I may just start working on her and doing my own building. I'll definitely take you up on your offer for some help when I get it rolling :)

Im tearing apart the same bike now. Ive got a 88 shadow 800 engine I might throw in there if she fits. Might go get a shop manual for the bike if you plan on digging very deep into it. Its always nice to look it up instead of searching the interwebz for an hour. Even if you dont tear into the engine its got usefull specs on everything. Let me know if you need any parts, Ive got some sitting around for this bike
