new member here, i've been sliding around the how to's and forums for awhile now. This is my first time taking on a project like this so dont beat me up too bad.

started with a 2003 Vstar 1100 iwith 8,000 miles that i picked up for $1500.

I rode it for the last month of the season then in November i started taking it down and i grabbed a tank from a swap meet.

then it came to the exhaust...i search for awhile but didnt see anything that really jumped out at me so i decided to make my own. i used the Biltwell DIY kit with the 1.75 prebends.

then it was time for a seat.

fender strut kit from bungking.com

then i picked up a headlight from lowbrow customs and made a headlight bracket

then it was time to start building mounts for the gas tank. In order to do that i had to first tuck the wiring harness. i had to chop it then tuck it all where i wanted it and reconnect it. This part really had me nervous, i hate electrical anything.

now that i finished the wiring and gas tank mounts i decided i wasnt happy with the exhaust. it was WAY too close to my leg. so it was scrapped and i started again, this is what i came up with. i also added a sissy bar.

now onto the gas tank... i completely cut out the tunnel and welded in a flat bottom. then i welded in the bungs for a fuel sight gauge, petcock bung, removed fuel cap hole and added an aftermarket vented cap/bung.

finally sprayed the tank and fender last night. all rattle can job using duplicolor dark silver metalic on the tank and black metalic on the fender. I then cleared both using Spraymax 2k clear to protect against any fuel spills. i also painted the engine covers matte black.

Nope, the tank sits high enough that i have ample clearance. i went with a 90 degree petcock also.

Got the carbs synchronized today. I don't have a manometer so I had to improvise, good thing I like my jack D!

I've never seen it done that way before. Friggen sweet dude. Does it take a while for it to react?

it actually responded pretty quick and there was no chance of sucking the fluid into the engine. I have since hooked up my buddies manometer, it was almost spot on.
