I see a lot of companies for 91 and up but nothing in the 86-90 era. Any small shops making them?

I am right there with you. My Sportster came with aftermarket forwards and I can't stand them.

Find used stock stuff at a swap, insta, eBay, etc
Call around local shops and ask for "take offs"

You should be able to find "take offs" at bike shops, call around. I see your in West Chester, call Nicks Cycle in Williamstown NJ, he has truck loads of "take off" parts.
