Any tips on removing an xs1100 cylinder head? Don't want to scratch up the gasket surface or break any fins.

I've take one off before. It's a pain in the ass. There is a pry spot. I took 2 pry bars and pried in opposite directions and it seemed to work.

Yes to the pry spots, also some careful rubber malleting will help.

Wood wedges are handy to keep it moving too

And - if you remove the cylinders after, be sure to blast them rigorously around the head bolts. I got the engine full of gravel because i forgot this.. very hard to get the dust and stones out of there.
