I have a rigid 1973 sportster and about 2 weeks ago my chain snapped in first gear. When it snapped it jammed between the sprocket and sprocket cover and I coasted to the interscetion on my clutch (about half a block). After fixing my chain I've and serious issues finding neutral and when I shift into a go to take off in first gear there is a ton of knocking in my primary and I'll eventually stall. If I try dropping straight into second gear to take off the bike seems to run fine (other than the shaky take off of starting in second). I've pulled my primary cover and everything seems to be in great shape. Before I pull my trap door does anyone have any advice for what I should be looking for or had this experence before?

Bent fork is my guess too. You are lucky it did not blow the back of the case out....
