from what i know, shadows and magnas have a rep for needing the clutch to be bleed constantly so i'm wondering if it would be cheaper to replace the clutch entirely to attempt to avoid this or if bleeding and slowly rebuilding is the way to go.

It can be a bit of a bitch to bleed the brake and clutch mc's, but having had a 84 700 magna for 5 or so years and an 88 800 shadow (same as the 86-87 700) for about 18 years, I've never had to bleed them too often. I do my shadow every 2 or 3 years, but have let it go as long as 8 or so without a problem.

BTW, using a mityvac pretty much solves the problems bleeding these mc's

EDIT, I was way into the first and second gen shadows for many years and talked to many guys who rode and worked on them. I've actually never heard of having a problem w/ constantly having to bleed the mc's
