View Full Version : My girl's build video; Virgina's Harley

By trade I am a visual artist, so for the past year I've been slowly working on this project. I finally just finished it, so I'm excited to get it out there and see what the feedback is like.

I'm assuming since she's a female with a spotlight on her (by me) it's bound to get some hate by someone, but we knew that going into it. Hope you guys enjoy.

I actually sat through this whole Vid,
Thanks for posting up the Vid.
You did a good job on it,
and she did a stellar job on building the sporty, and giving due props.
May she ride long and the white socks where tripped out.

How could anyone hate this? Cool that she's into getting her hands dirty and building a bike. I like how she said she liked her welds even if they aren't good, because that's what it's all about...doing it yourself. Next bike she builds will be better and her welds will get better.

Cool video and cool bike!

Only the guys with the inferiority complexes would hate it..

Killer Jay. I've been telling myself I'm going to make a time lapse vid of my new build and this makes me want to follow through.

Cant wait to get some riding in with you guys soon. Great job on this!

Super rad. Reminds me of a Petrolicious video. That's high praise. Super cool chick, too. Much respect to you both. Keep it up!

Awesome video man! How did you do the ariel shots cruising on the highway???

Most of the bikes posted on this site are not appealing to me. In fact, the majority are just down right ugly. What is appealing to me is the craftsmanship exhibited by the builders. There are some skilled people on this forum. Even though I may not enjoy looking at the final product as a whole, I do enjoy seeing how they did it and have great respect for the skill needed and the effort exerted to bring the creation into being.
In the case of this video, I get to enjoy not only the skill and effort exerted in it's creation, I get to enjoy the final product as well. Since I have zero video or photography skills, my only measure for judging this work is how much I enjoy watching it. By that standard, it is a fine work of art and I am very pleased that you two have shared it with us here.

some drone stuff, but that road shot I was actually standing in the bed of my pickup truck with a GoPro on a gimbal attached to a stick.. it was before I owned one. was going for the same effect though!

thanks everyone!

Hell yeah!

More girls building bikes.

Less girls standing on their bike for Instagram.

You rock.....nice job. Just sold my sporty chop Saturday. The guy hadn't rode in 3 years. Dude was grinning ear to ear.

fuck ya!

Great video; thanks for sharing! I too dug the aerial shot and assumed it was a drone. Either way, keep posting. It's always interesting to see videos of people building their bikes.

Excellent stuff, really inspiring. Any more vids ?...b.

Good video. The more encouragement women get to wrench and fabricate the better. Women often have better fine motor coordination than men.

Encourage her to do a lot more of it including MIG and TIG practice. If she digs torch work OA welding is the most versatile process and equipment is cheap.

I like videos like this. Long enough to get an idea of what's going on, but short enough for people like me. I have the attention span of a goldfish. Really. I sat through this one and I liked it. Heck yeah! You need to make more stuff like this. You have friends with bikes, right? :P

02-24-2016, 1:37 PM
Great Job! For you and her.
When I read "My girl's build", I was not expecting any welding and hard tailing going on by a chick. Figured I see some grinding and sparks in dark garage, but this was as legit as it gets, for the build and video.
Not hipsterish at all. Watched the whole thing and liked it a lot.

02-24-2016, 8:18 PM
hell yeah I'm digging the shit out of it. Now if you can get your Girl to talk to my daughter cuz my daughters ride just sits in the shop. hell anymore if it gets rode I'm riding it.....maybe one day she will get back on it. I'm sending this vid to her for inspiration. Thanks for posting .

Nothing too noteworthy already out but I’m working on a few new ideas

Women often have better fine motor coordination than men.

no matter how many hours I put in, she always manages to tig better than me. oh well.

Not hipsterish at all. Watched the whole thing and liked it a lot.

I actually really appreciate that haha

thanks everyone. excited to make some more stuff happen in the future.

10/10 - would watch again....

Loved the bike
Loved the build
Loved the video

And more importantly - loved the outlook/attitude expressed.

Awesome videography. Been following her build on Instagram. Turned out awesome. Good to see people that are more interested in the art of creating rather than perfection or trends.
