Not a KZ.. its a VN750 Vulcan
The KZ750 was either a parallel twin or a tripple... stopped being imported to America in 1984

why would you say such a thing i mean yeah i can see where some would say its ugly but to call it inefficient is just blasphemy this alternator that you can pic up anywhere for less than 50 bucks is way more efficient and durable than the crappy stators and regulators that are offered for this bike

slim feel free to chime in on the stock numbers but first lets talk voltage this bike bone stock and brand new produced 12.4 volts or so at idle and barely 13 volts at 5k rpm thats running a what 30 amp stator

now as for my alternator it puts out 13.4 volts at idle and 14.6 volts at 5k rpm

now lets talk money and time

stock bike your stator fries and your r/r is bad first you have to pull the motor to remove the stator and a new one even a cheap chinese pos one is gonna run close to 100 bucks for the stator and 40 or more for the regulator and you will need a new stator gasket some antifreeze possible new crush washers for your pipes so another 30 or 40 bucks there we are looking at a grand total between 170 to 250 dollars and that is if you do it yourself a shop charges about 8 hours of labor to do this job so depending on the shop you could be giving them a grand to replace the stator and regulator

but the alternator on the other hand is 40 to 50 bucks at idiotzone and has a life time warranty and has a built in regulator so your initial investment for this mod is under 350 bucks and time wise you will spend a couple hours installing the kit but if the alternator ever gives out on you you are out no more money thanks to the warranty and about 20 mins of labor
