Almost complete

Xvs650 Yamaha RAT BIKE

Mods and accessories

21" front wheel
Old sportster tank
Solo springer seat
Shortened custom rear guard
Side mount no. Plate and prison brake light mount
Prison blinkers and head light
Bitwell z style bars and 5" risers
Custom flame rear view mirrors
Short shot V&H pipes
Tins all left to rust and painted old school.
All engine,covers and frame blacked out.
Reloacated pegs and controls
Lowered in rear

prob much more I forgot

Things to come next few weeks

Front softail fender
White wall tires
Ride with the boyz

That headlight looks like it's useless as is.

Also, can we raise some funds for photography lessons? All those angled shots made my head hurt.

Bad ass bike though, I'm glad to see more people working the V star platform. I think we'll see a lot more as they start to become really affordable in the used market.

Quick question, love the bike,

The tank, I see you mounted that thing on top of the dual backbone?
You also let the tank rust, like the style and something I have been thinking about this year since I am about to dish my tank and fuck it up, how does that work, do you strip the tank bare of color wait a bit until it rusts than coat it? Or just leave it like that?

you can use household materials to get different kinds of patina and not have to wait for the natural version.

vininger and rocksalt

paint as normal. no clear rub back steal wool works great cover in salt n viniger. 2 days in weather it will rust just redo salt if needed

Okay, learned something new, but once it is rusted, will it not continue to rust? as in fuck up your tank over time?

clear coat it once you've reached your desired patina.
my GS 750 was done with salt water and the sun for a couple days then I cleared it to stop if from rusting further.

just do some looking around and you will find formulas to get certain colors and textures. Its literally a science lol

going in next week for either aqua or white wall tires

as for head light I needed to wait for it to be dark to bend bracket to suit. it sorted now

I just stripped my tank and left it out in the rain a few times. Came out perfect.
