What's up guys, new to the forum

Bought this '97 VLX600 for $1500 a couple of years ago with the intentions of making it something of my own. I did all of the work my self and out of my home garage.

Went through a lot of stages...Bare with me.

Chopped the rear fender and cut, shaved and rewrapped the factory seat. Also patina'd the tank.

Shinko whitewall tires installed. Factory sizes

Licks Cafe style clip-ons installed.

Started the hardtail build and switched out the tank for a custom peanut tank.

Lots of cutting and welding...and beer, of course.

Ended up keeping the lower part of the swingarm original and just connected the upper part using 1-3/8" tubing.

Completed (minus fender)

Installed the rear fender and fab'd a small sissy bar, re-laced a VT750RS 16" rear rim to the factory hub and wrapped it with some double white wall rubber. Also replaced the front tire with a MkII Speedmaster.

Happy with it at the moment.

Looks very nice and makes me hopeful that maybe one day I can install a peanut on my vstar double backbone as well.

That 16" rear is one of the best things I've seen done to a vlx. Looks 100% better. Bike looks really good!

Thanks man. It wasn't much of a struggle to mount my peanut, hope it works out for you.

Thanks dude! Yeah I was really happy with how it turned out. At first I was worried about the spokes not fitting right, but I ended up using the spokes from the 750 wheel with no issues.

Yo, foe oil canister looks sick. Is there a "How to" anywhere on how to clean up all of the wires/rec/etc under the seat?

Basically get a wiring diagram cut everything you don't need out and relocate everything you do need in whatever suitable container, or "oil tank"
