I floated a valve 4 weeks ago today, and the stock motor ate itself.

Picked this up: '99 EX500R

Took old kablooey out: Harvested the starter, left side cover and gen II flywheel / modded the newer flywheel to fire with the stock ignitor, checked carb sync, adjusted valves, fit / replaced radiator hoses & added new fluids...

Made a puke/breather hose: Has a screen fitted to keep crawley's out of the brass end.

Made some pod filters: From the stock airbox boots, some cheap 54MM pod boots and a green 3M scourpad

Runs great; this motor was cleaner that a brand new whistle inside... now I'm waiting on a 4 tined rear sprocket carrier crush drive, for the chain conversion... 1st gen and second gen sprocket carrier are obviously different... though the sprocket mounting dim's themselves are the same. It'll be a 16 tooth front & 41 tooth rear... I dunno the link count for the new chain yet.

Tuesday the 24th of March the hub should come in, then I can finish the chain conversion... and kill this fucking cabin fever off.

Well, going from being a mod here for 2 years and being able to edit or delete basically any fucking thing on this site... to having to PM a mod to delete a post if I needed one deleted, then having some posts pc'd for content was pretty fucking annoying. Especially, when no one gave me a heads up about it... then a bunch of major life shit dropping all at once, eh it is what it is. A lot of good friends here, event co-ordination etc.

Move? Yeah, the old 454LTD's are quick as it is; even stock 50HP @10K rpm... with my modding it was 0-60 in 4 seconds in 2nd with a 6 speed tranny; too much of that though without a tach... led to the heart transplant. The 454 was the R&D motor for the early 500 GPZ Ninja's. This EX500 race designated is over 60HP @ 9.8K rpm... is this one also modded? Oh, I dunno... do you see any ears on it? (;
