Does anyone know/have any pics of Duane Ballards pink taco build? Checked his blog but it really didnt have any pics of it being built. The last pics I saw he had it painted. Thanks for the help.

Hey,
I don't think my dad wants any pictures of the bike being posted as it is now (painted) since he is showing it out in Vegas in October. But I'll post some pictures of it being built.

I'll post more in a minute

The "Homoerotic lawn darts from space", as McGoo calls them, will first be seen in Vegas Oct. 1st. Kutty's and mine are both in final assembly now. Since no one has done anything quite this dumb for quite a while we thought it would be fun to get together in Vegas on the first and show them for the first time finished together. We are also going to enter them in the show on Fremont street the 3rd. After that it's daily rider duty for them both. We both were inspired by the same bike and had our frames made by Fred at the same time. Since then Kutty has been building his in his shop and me at mine. It's amazing how similar and different in some ways they ended up. Thanks, Duane

Duane, not to sound gay, but your pink taco gives me a tingly feeling in my no no spots. :) Just kidding! :D

I love the bike. I remember seeing a similar body style in an old chop magazine, I think the bike was red, white, and blue. Not Captain America like, but I think stars or something.

Nope, that's not it... I think it was on the cover of an old Custom Chopper Magazine. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow and snap some pics. I really love this style of bike.

The one you are probably thinking of is the "All American" The owner was a buddy of Bones Noteboom and he still has the bike in his living room in Northern California. Kutty has a magazine with it in it. - Duane

I'm wrong. It was called the American Express. Kutty saw it a few years ago at a show. Next time I go by Kutty's I'm going to borrow the magazine and I'll scan it. - Duane

No crazy engine work in this one. Just cleaned up the ports and a slight over-bore. Now to work out a few little details and finish this thing.

i have been wanting to build a 70s digger custom for a while. Duane......you have lit a fire under my ass. My buddy has the girder front end, going to have to work at his shop for free for a while but it will be worth it. just have to find a bike

Here's what I can tell you about the Pink Taco, a bike on which I pitched in some fab concepts and light wiring help on several occasions:

electricals and fuel in the same box.

Hold onto your sock hats, hipsters, 'cause this motherscratcher is gonna be sick.

I can't wait to ride down the Vegas Strip with DB on my CB...

DuaneBallard
09-28-2009, 5:22 AM
Ended up not needing the fuel pump. I rode it for a few miles last night. Everything seems good so far. McGoo, I wouldn't call sitting in my garage for HOUR and HOUR helping numerous times "light" by any means. Thanks for the help. - Duane

DuaneBallard
09-28-2009, 9:33 AM
Thanks. It's not just me though. As you know when you build something it ends up being a collaberation with your buddies. Alex Cardone, McGoo, Slim, Swazi Mike, Chris Mueller, Sonny Boy, PJ, Wayne, and the list goes on were all a help during the build. I'm just glad it's over. I like coming up with an idea and then riding. The building part is months of frustration for me. - Duane

riding down the strip is alot more cool in concept than in reality..in fact it fucking sucks. 753948547 pedestrians and taxi's all fighting for that 5x5 piece of lane you are using. Do it Thursday night if you can, should be alot less crowded.

Sounds good!

I had some "zoomie pipes" on my purple one for a while, they were essentially stock pipes slash cut at the front of the engine, before the bend that sends them underneath. The outer ones were probably 10" long and the inner ones were around 15". Sounded amazing and ran great with proper jetting. Can't wait to see the pics.
