Just picked this '71 up the other day. Going to go in a little different direction than most bike's I've done. Sort of street tracker/ cafe racer. I'll try to keep up-dating this as I go. Here's what I'm starting with.

Yes, I love the DOHC twins. Just make sure you have decent compression and some backpressure in the pipes and they will pull pretty hard up to nine grand. Over at hondatwins.net there are some great resources for the 450 engine. Here is what I did with my basketcase CL450 and I have another one in the works.

what did you do with your ignition and stock switches? did you move them somewhere under the seat? i have a '74 cb450 and am trying to clean up the bars and everything with the wiring.

the bike didn't come with any electronics so it's all custom. I stuffed the rectifier, reg, coils and fuses all under the seat. The only switch I'm running right now is for high beams and I'm still using a keyed ignition, both are under the seat as well.

well, it's been a while since I've posted, I don't have any new picks but I have been working on this project. I've got it tore down to the bare frame. we do powder coating in the shop so I'm powder coating everything, including the wheels. I hope to make everything look new, except the tins, with the factory blue paint. I've been aquiring parts for this including lowering shocks, reverse cone mufflers, clubman bars and misc bearings and seals. I'm lowering the front and rear about 1.5" and still looking for the perfect cafe seat. more to come, later, strit
