View Full Version : VStar 650 Conversion to Chain Drive?

Hello everyone,

My buddy is currently looking for a bike to turn into a bobber. Unfortunately he doesn't have the funds to buy a Roadstar at the moment. So he was looking at the Vstar 650s they can be had for fairly cheap. The bike is ALMOST everything we want. V-twin, Air Cooled, Carb but its not belt/chain drive. So yea we are planning on converting the shaft drive to chain drive. We just need to know if the gear is spinning the correct way out of the transmission that would allow us to slap a sprocket on it. (Some spin backwards) I have seen some bikes that make a cross over shaft and add a chain on the right side but our goal is to just do away with all the shaft drive junk and get a sprocket to fit.

What are your thoughts? If the 650 shaft isn't spinning the right way what about the 950?
