So I started this build over 2 and a 1/2 years ago. This is what I started with.
56477
We tore down the titled frame and sent it off to get hard tailed.

56479
Got it back put the wheels and bars on so we could move it around easier and started gathering parts.
56480
56481
And then life happened and that's how it sat for almost two years. I just recently got a chance to get back at this thing.

After collecting dust for 2 long years I got a chance to get back into this project. We did some mock up before sending it off to the welder. Decided the headers were to far gone so now I'm just going to buy a whole new exhaust system.

There's still a ton of work to do, but after sitting for over 2 years I'm pretty excited to be making progress again.

Checking stance, riding position and dreaming of warmer days when I can actually ride this when it's done.

Bike looks awsome so far, I have a 75 and wanted to go the same route as yours with it but unfortunately I have to part with it to pay some things.

Back story on mine I was the second owner bought it from the widow of the original owner. Thing came original paperwork from purchase in 75. Sat in a shed for 18 years before I got my hands on it. $340 later had a running rideable all original ride

That's a nice looking bike. Shame you got to let it go, but shit happens, right? Some day I'll get a nice stock one, the ones I bought were rough when I got them.

Did that bike run before, are you going to pull the valve cover.

If you look in the background of my pic there's a 77 sohc with the fairing on it. When I pulled the valve cover one of the parts that holds the cam down was cracked and when I read further on forums it's somewhat common. Just letting you know you might want to check it out.

We got it running briefly before we tore it down to get hard tailed. I'm playing the wait and see right now. Anything like that is well beyond my abilities. I do have a second engine just in case, although I've never heard that run.
