I tried to contact the DMV for this but got the run around, so I then
checked the CC serch ingine No Dice.
so here goes.....

A bike is purchased out of state. Bike has no current Title because the state in
which the bike is currently registered does Not Issue "Titles" for vintage bikes. (Connecticut).

Bike comes with a bill of sale only.

the new home of the Bike would be California.

Anybody have a good idea what California DMV would do in a case like this?
would the DMV be able to check old records of other states to see when this bike
was last titled & where?

I bought a bike from Alabama that had the same issue. I went to AAA and had them verify that Alabama does not issue titles for vintage motorcycles. All I had to do was take my bike to the CHP for a VIN verification. AAA did all the rest; my bike was correctly registered as a Harley of the appropriate year.
