My Paughco tank with cam lock gas cap leaks, tried new caps, gaskets are good, tank bung appears flat and smooth with straight edge. Is there any way to stop the leaking? Searches of the net turn up mostly that they just leak and not to fill the tank. I'm ready for tear down and paint and I sure hate to ruin fresh paint with a fuel leak.

I cut out an old innertube to fit inside my cam gas cap. it seals up pretty well and still breathes when it needs to..

Try two gaskets. Make a tighter fit.

The cam style filler on my Throttle Addiction Frisco sport was cut out and swapped altogether for a nice screw in filler.

If that's beyond your motivation level (and I'm assuming your tank is not painted yet based on above) you can cut out the cam locking tabs in the current filler, then drop a $7 late-style screw-in filler neck into it and weld around the underside of the lip. No more leaks and no gas spewing out of the tank should the bike ever go down.

I've thought about doing something like that, I'll investigate, thanks for the tip........

I went to a different type of cam lock cap with a better seal, the cap is a little wider but mine doesn't leak anymore and I like the look of the new cap better.

I have a throttle addiction tank as well, and I can't explain the style of gas cap, but if you know what I'm talking about, I bend the two metal tabs towards the top of the cap turned upside down and then that makes the cap fit tighter on the gas can, & I haven't had any leaks since., it leaked like crazy and started getting under of my new paint job at the filler top

Thanks for some more ideas, flattrackhooligan I thought about bending the tabs a bit but it already fits pretty darn tight but that costs absolutely nothing and I'll give it a try plus I'll order that cap pedrodeleon and have it as well, only a few bucks.

Thanks again guys!

The cap has never been tighter. Will test to see if it doesn't leak in a few!

Good luck! Keep us posted!

I bent the tabs on my cap slightly and it's definitely tighter but it's at a half tank and I've not had a chance to top it off and ride yet.

Check the opening fer "true" first....i.e. put a known good straightedge (metal, not a 1x4) across the opening 8 ways (every angle).....you might just need to tap an edge a lil....Paughcos usually pretty good though....so Im thinkin mebbe ya got a Chinese gas cap ?....
