Who's checked oil level without a dip stick? I have a center fill horseshoe style tank, a 1999 80" EVO motor. All I have to use is a screw driver. What length screw driver do I use and how much oil should I expect to see.
Thanks.

I would just wait till the lifters tap, then add a quart.

I'm too ignorant for to wait for that.

Take how much oil the bike calls for, and how much oil you consider to be too low, subtract that from what it calls for, drain it fill it with your too low amount stick something in make a mark this will be the bottom of the dip stick add the rest stick the same something in make a mark this will be your upper level.

you know i never look at the stick. hold the bike up level and i look to see my oil level is a bit below the return and vent lines. not level or right up to them. shit, you can tell if your low eyeballing it.

Use a shorty flatblade but be sure to wear rubber gloves. Expect to see oil all over the place. Be sure to use a standard screwdriver since your engine is 80 cubic inches. If it was a 1340 cc you'd need a metric screwdriver.

Dipstick?

I've been eyeballing it for decades as many others do. Top off leaving a bit of room for expansion and all is well.

I usually stick my finger in there. about knuckle deep is good. Then I taste it. If its salty , you're running lean. If its sweet you're running rich.

The hook is always baited and I ain't lying, that's the sinker.
