I watched the shit out of it up until season 6, at which point I lost insterest/it started sucking hard. My OL is stoked as fuck to watch the asinine-length premiere tonight, at which point I will be stuck smoking a bunch of dope and playing guitar. I'll admit it, I'm a dork who watches the show. That's all it is really, a show. A show that occasionally has scenes with guys riding. Guess I am a simple man because that's good enough for me. I will say this, that Jemma is one psycho bitch but I'd still jump her bones and call her Peggy!

There's a lot of pure hate on this board for that show. Which is weird, because over in my meth dealer forums, the guys aren't nearly as mad at Breaking Bad. There are a few people in my serial killer message boards that are mad at Dexter, but nothing like here.

Here's my prediction, Jax finds out his mom forked his old lady and blows her head off while she's riding Nero's face. The ghost of Clay is waiting for her at the gates of hell. Jax Gets life in jail, becomes butt boy for Marylyn Manson. Juice puts a 44 against his head and blows his tattoo all over the wall. Bobby dies in a tragic accident when his get back whip wraps around his spokes and throws him over the handlebars. Tig auditions and gets cast as Larry Fine for a Three Stooges movie. Chibs close down the charter, moves to Ireland and joins the cast of Riverdance.

Because FX makes hundreds of millions of dollars off those viewer eyeballs. Advert revenues are maximized by appealing to demographics with spending money. There are plenty of articles on how well the FX strategy pays off.

SOA is very much a chick show and all modern production companies study viewer demographics. (Most) chicks don't actually care about the "motorcycling" bit so motorcycles are secondary to everything else including sweaty men.

EVILBLACKSABRE
09-13-2014, 2:49 PM
I have mixed feelings about the show. On one hand, I dislike it. On the other hand, I hate it.

I dislike the show because the storyline became exhaustively repetitive. How many times did Jax say "We're gonna make the club 100% legit, but first there's one last piece of business we gotta take care of", and then the club gets into a beef with some organized crime group and a whole new war gets started. And round and round it goes. I found it tiresome.

I hate the show for two reasons- 1. Because it inspires idiot posers to act like douchebags. I don't have a problem with people wearing SOA shit, but when they go around acting like bad-asses, that's crossing the line, and reasonable or not, I consider the show that inspired them to be partially responsible.

And 2. Because of the idiots I run into who automatically assume that because I ride that I must be as big a fan of the show as they are. And because they think we have some kind of SOA love in common they assume I have nothing better to do than stand around talking about the show, or listening to them tell me about the rad custom harley that their uncles brothers cousin once owned before he wrecked it, or how they really want to get a bike but their wife/girlfriend/mother won't let them, or they want to tell me how much better my bike would look if I got t-bars just like the bikes on the show.

I don't judge the show, and I don't judge people for liking it. I like some shows that other people might think are stupid, to each their own. But I stopped watching SOA at the end of last season and I won't watch it ever again. Partially because I don't like the show, and partially because I want to have as little in common as possible with the types of douchebags I described earlier.

What I like about the show: The action, shooting, blood and death... I used to watch the hell out of the A-team as a kid, I knew it wasn't real and was overly-sensational, but I hated that no one ever got killed on the A-team even though they shot a bazillion rounds.

What I don't like about the show: 1) people dressing themselves, and setting up their bikes to look like the show... 2) The show portraying that women have that much influence on a club..... 3) Questions from people asking if it's really like that

CISO1969

JoeInPA

No doubt it would haunt him and maybe Jax should have just ridden off a cliff instead.

Still, going out on your own terms sure beats dying a slow, agonizing death at the end of an unfulfilled life. He did what he could do to straighten out the mess he made on the streets. He got to do right by both his dad and boys. At least as right as he could, given the life he was born into. He came to terms with who/what he really was all along, by seeing to it that at the end of the day, the bad guys lose (including himself). He died on the same bike that his father was the most at peace on. He went out quickly and as free as he'd ever been. He knew his time had come and he was ok with that.

I am sure a lot of folks were screaming no at the end. I happen to feel the more appropriate response to what just happened was "Oh hell yeah, ride on in peace brother!"

Just my opinion of course.

I agree, it was the perfect ending. I just had to think about the truckers point of view. I once had a car go under my trailer. Just be glad it was not a modern era engine on the pan/knuckle bike.

I've heard rumors that there might be a prequel in the future. Going back to the start of the club. Great concept! Ripe enleathered slam pigs make nice background.

I can picture the new series now. George Lucas meets GTA, SOA, and Quadrophenia with a dose of David Lynch.

It could be a modern retake on Mods vs. Rockers with Suzuki Burgmans and new Triumphs and Nortons, with the Sons of Assbanditry (SOA renamed to beat RICO) MC (on the Burgmans of course) where all members no matter what gender are played by Walt Goggins with the aid of CGI. Cardiganed ewoks make periodic appearances and carry off the souls of the slain to Starbucks.

The Kardashians and various other wenches (subcontract wench selection to Quentin Tarantino) would ride the Britbikes to expand their target market. The few Harleys in the background would be fitted with medical oxygen tank mounts and ridden by fat old guys, pretty much like real life.

With the right product placement, chickflick and tranny romantic subplots, and maximum violence it's a sure hit.

I understand that a lot of the ribbing on the SOA show is good natured. I also understand that some would hate the concept, no matter how good the show was done. Still, the writing for the show was simply amazing, no matter what one thinks about the way it portrayed "bikers." As an example, how many caught the message in the homeless lady at the end of last night? She has been on the show from season one. Jax gave her that blanket. She represented jesus watching over Jax throughout the seasons. Jax was being used by her as the angle of death. When she told him it was "time," she was not only talking about time for Jax to take out the "devil" himself on the courthouse steps, appearing as the grim reaper under the blanket turned hooded robe, but time for Jax to also come home. The message being, that no matter how screwed up a person may be, if you believe in the story of christ (which I do not by the way) there is a place for you in heaven when your time comes. It was the real reason he was so at peace as he killed himself. He knew it was time to go home.

That sort of writing is rare these days. Even rarer to see it on a non-premium tv channel. That it lasted for so many years is simply amazing. The guns, porno scenes, broads and bikes were all just extra attractions to me. The writing was what had me watching week after week.

Yes dollface,

I'm with the hipsters, under our knit afghans, clandestinely living out the dream through Peggy, Hellboy and that dude from "Queer as Folk,"

How is that so fucking obvious?

Truth is...

What I find more insulting than the treatment of my Fenian brothers is the bullshit blowjobs the know-nothings give hacks like Kurt Sutter...

I think the writing sucks, the pacing sucks, the characters are poorly written without much psychological depth or internal drive...

I think it's dumb and poorly done and a real sad indictment of the writer...

And don't fucking quote Bill after that travesty...

Cause the old bard never flung dung like:

When we take action to avenge the ones we love personal justice collides with social and divine justice. We become judge, jury, and God. With that choice comes daunting responsibility. Some men cave under that weight. Others abuse the momentum. The true outlaw finds the balance between the passion in his heart and the reason in his mind. His solution is always an equal mix of might and right.

This is from the show?

I'm not a watcher. Not a hater either. At best I have a strong, all consuming fiery indifference. I mean, soap opera with motorcycles and "outlaws?" Sure, great; whatever keeps a turd in your toilet. Christ how long was Sex in the City on? Same thing as far as I'm concerned. I'm not some self absorbed kale eating ironic douche-bag who says they don't have a TV, but really, unless I desperately want football on, the wife is usually watching some home improvement thing or some crime show and I read or fuck around in the shop.

However, you would be hard pressed to convince me that whoever wrote that bullshit collection of Morrisey lyrics is not a pimply faced emo 13 year old who just read Thoreau for the first time. I mean... Fuck, was the whole thing this ham fisted and sophomoric, or was this a special occasion that was cherry picked?

I almost wish I had...

And I probably will...

Because bad tv with motorcycles is better than bad tv without motorcycles...

I've seen enough to know it's terrible...

But I've seen every episode of 90210 (and not just to catch a glimpse of Russell Mitchell) so I will watch bad tv...

Just don't dig the Emperor's New Clothes aspect of it...

Lame. Too many dots to have to connect, characters to have to stay true to and too limiting as far as storylines. Which means they'll probably go right for it. Lame.

I read the prequel is only gonna be a 12 episode one-time thing. I think it could be cool if done right. If Sutter can lay off the prison sex and stick to an MC in its infancy before it's all gun running with Irish/black/mexicans, and murder with no regard for the concept of forensics or witnesses, I'd be down

ok, jax is like what, 26 years old ? he was a baby when the club was formed so that would be around 1989 ? by 1989 the outlaw club scene was looking pretty ragged. harley was producing production "choppers" and trying to sell the bad boy image , 8 out of 10 riders were posers who wouldn't make a pimple on a real outlaws ass. drugs and money had already replaced real brotherhood as the binder holding clubs together. the whole fucking thing is a bad joke.
