Cool of the team at TC Bros to offer this up for the cult!

After finally getting my slow moving project on the road reliable this summer I have been thinking about beefing up the rear fender. It is a 1983 XS650 that I have been working on over the last five years. It currently has an old spare tire cover for a fender and although it looks great it is pretty thin. I've had to repair the mounts a few times in the few hundred miles this summer and I just noticed that it is cracking again at the bolts for moutning the light. Plus a while back I picked up taller sissy bar that might be fun to run who know maybe even a ppad. Either way the back needs some more tweaking.

Cool of TC bros. and Chop Cult for offering up these oppertunities.
I'll submit my long term project for consideration.
Pre '69 sportster frame I've been messing with in my spare time and as funds allow.

A neighbor came across the frame and offered it up to me, I've been wanting a Harley to build for as long as I can remember so this presented itself and I was in,
frame has some issues but nothing that can't be taken care of with some effort, a friend had the tank and front end stashed, he hooked me up with them for a song, Thanks Rocky.

Some parts I've tracked down over time from my Father, Friends of ours and as I come across them,
Live in a rural area so H.D. parts aren't easy to come across when I find 'em I try to buy 'em.

Top clamp from my best friend's Dad.

So that's the start of my build, basicaly using as many pieces from guys I grew up around and as many old/ take off parts I can scrounge to build an Old School inspired bike that's rarely something seen in my area.
So it would be fucking killer to win that fender and have something from the awesome people on this forum and the people who support our community.
Thanks 33.
(sorry about the shit cell pics it's what I have so use it.)

Im running a chopped front fender on rear. Its too small and leaves a big ugly gap and my oil tank and battery stay covered in road grime. This wide fender would look perfect on my bike!

Yeah, that fender will do. I tried to make something like this with the factory fender. The previous owner had already cut the fender in half (cross-ways!). I welded it back together, and trimmed the sides off. But the arc is too long.

Bike is/was an 02 Sportster 883H. Plans are for a hardtail, 1200 kit, custom bars (I'll be fabbing myself), fabbed battery/electrical box, fabbed oil bag, and whatever else I can think of along the way.

almost "finished" been riding it but the vibrations broke the welds on the sissy bar and the taillight/plate mount..
after fabbing up a new rear end I'll ride it til it snows then a complete tear down with a fresh rebuild and paint.

I am in the very beginning of a 79 XS650 build for the wife. The frame is at Voodoo Vintage Fabrication in Austin Texas having the hard tail installed and a neck mod.
Here is a slide show of what I have so far.
That is the Exact rear fender I want to run on this build.

This is my 82 fxr roller. Next to it is my friend's 82 fxr. I rode his and it handles like a, well, an awesome handling bike.

So I'm one upping his by dropping a set of 46mm kyb inverted forks from a yz125.

I dropped the forks 5.5 inches using temporary internal spacers and a set of Springs from a race bike. Soon I'll rebuild them with my lathe made delrin spacers and some racetech Springs. Also gonna score a set of piggyback rears from somewhere. I can mod my shim packs and rebuild it all myself.

Scooping up a shovel very soon to get some weight in this bitch and
Start the build process.

As you can see, I have NO fenders, or a usable front wheel, tires, all that. It's a big build.

My deadline is riding to the SMOKEOUT in NC next year, so I want a drivetrain by the winter so I can tear it all down and send it out for machining.

These other builds rock! Love this site, just registered a couple days ago and I'm hooked. Rock on.

Last time I mocked up the 75 Guzzi Sport! The engine is almost together now and poked out to 836 cc. using 87 mm VW cylinders turned down as sleeves. The frame is now up 3" with 42 degrees rake and 6" trail Definitely could use a rear fender

Here is my current project and I was in desperate need of a fender. It's a 1982 Yamaha XJ650 that I stretched 9.5 inches(shaft drive bike btw) and dropped the seat height like 8 inches. I couldn't afford one so I used what I could find. Using a Shinko 777 white wall tire that I think this fender would look awesome on.http://i62.tinypic.com/2igya9s.jpghttp://i62.tinypic.com/2mcvvjo.jpg

then became this

Wasn't happy with the original frame so it became this

you can see the fab work here
http://vimeo.com/99004697

which brought it to this point
50155

yesterday was spent buffing out the frame
50156

Just need to get a front master cylinder from a friend, custom build the froward controls (out of connecting rods from an old 650 motor), and get a real fender ;-) the one in the video is just the front fender bent out to sit on the wheel. Then it will be mocked up and shook down for a couple week before being tore down and prepped for powder coating and paint, then one final build........ hopefully to be completed by mid september for a local rally.

Thanks for the consideration!

So I'm having trouble uploading a pic, must be because I'm using my phone and not my PC. I've created an album that shows the project from start to current. Good luck to everyone who enters, you all have some pretty sweet projects/rides and I hope mine comes out as good as any of yours, this is my first project and I'm pretty frigging excited about it!

Well I started this project a couple years ago. It was my first street bike ever, a 1983 Yamaha Maxim 400. I wanted to bob it but the stock fender I didn't care for so instead of cutting it, I just pitched it. I have to figure out my seat situation still and until then, I didn't want to worry about a fender but this one looks great.

This is my ride. I've posted it here before, and it has been featured by TC Bros in their Customers' Rides photo collection.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y151/gunnfixr/photo8.jpg

The bike is my rolling memorial to service members killed in combat. Every combat vet I meet is invited to put a name on the fender of those they lost, if they have any. Its been quite the undertaking on an emotional level. The people who write those names don't always share their stories, but they all share a bit of pain. More than once I've found myself in tears hugging strangers at gas pumps.

The old girl needs a refit. The fender came off of a trailer, and had to be cut with a sawzall to be made to fit. Northern Michigan's road haven't been very friendly, either. The fender has cracked, the struts have broken, and she has been patched more than once on the side of the road. Honestly, she is rapidly becoming an eye sore.
The gas tank has been dented, and the paint boogered up one night when she fell over during a rain storm and leaked gas for 8 hours. I've also gotten bored with the drag bars, and I'd like to replace those with a set of lane splitters and get rid of the 5" risers. I also have plans to replace the rusted exhaust pipes (I've been riding since March when there was 4ft of snow on the deck) with new one and wrap them.
I'm mulling over a change to the paint scheme, but I haven't decided yet. I may reverse the colors, or go with white stencils on black to make it stand out...I dunno.

I've written down all the names, I just need a new fender to which they can be transfered. A freebie fender will take a big bite out of the amount of money I'll be spending to give ol' girl a facelift.

Started this chop about three years ago. Bought it as a raked out retro chop with a narrow springer with some massive pull back apes. I didn't fit too well on the Stock set up. I tried changing seats, that didn't work out, I tried konging the rear, and it still didn't look or feel right. So This year I ended up chopping the back end completely off and replacing it with a TC Bros hard Tail. I added an old 16" rear wheel, Swapped out the narrow Springer for some Forks by Frank, and finally added some frisco bars from SOLO Custom Cycles. I Just put the motor back in last night after I took this pic. What do you all think? Sure would look good with a Bobber Fender.
