I working on a friends CB while my bike gets painted and I can't seem to get it started. I re-did the points and static timed it with a 12v bulb (pretty sure I did it right). I also pulled apart the carbs and cleaned them out, checked for air leaks at the manifold and retightened everything. Gas is new and the battery has a full charge. I've kicked and kicked at this thing and not even a pop. I don't have any "scientific" way to test compression so I don't know about that.

Are there any little tricks I can try or things I can do to narrow down what's wrong.

I timed the left side point off the "LF" mark on the rotor on the compression stroke. Is that backwards?

BTW, thanks!
