View Full Version : HELP! Shovel engine install. Rocker box rub

05-28-2014, 12:01 AM
I blew my shovel cases up awhile ago. It was a swingarm fxwg 83. I bought a stock 74" engine with std cases. I pulled the old engine and dropped the new one in I bought. It seems that the rear rocker box is rubbing the frame down tube under the seat. I'm not sure how to fix this or if this is ok to roll with. The engine is bolted down and I tried to shim it to make it not rub so much. I don't remember having this happen before but I never payed much attention to it before pulling it out. Thanks jake.

Also I could not figure out how to add photo with my phone.

Fuck yea you got fix it, will rattle your teeth out. Reads like the frame is flexed out of shape.
Either cut the frame out and reverse what you cut out, or check the frame, either way not a easy fix.

H & H. Heat and a hammer.

H & H. Heat and a hammer.

That's what I'd do, but hammer first since heat is more work and hot on nearby components.
