I've got an old set of pipes that have light bluing. Really it's a straw/gold color. I want to attempt to color the pipes enitrely in the gold/straw color or go a bit darker to the brown tone. I've tried my hand a bit with a torch, but it seems inconsistent.

Does anyone have any ideas at what temps chrome pipes will start changing colors? I've found color/temp charts for steel, but it seems different for chrome.

Take the chrome off, run them on the bike. Make sure they are perfectly clean!

I see what you are saying. 1st- I haven't had many fun experiences stripping chrome. 2nd- I prefer to leave the chrome on it to protect from rust. Everything rusts out here on the west coast.

You would need to do it in a very large temperature controlled over to get it even. The reason they only blue near the motor is because of the drop in temp that quickly as it leaves the engine.
I'd bet you'll be needing upwards of 800* to get it right.

Don't if it works , I've had it in my cuboard for like 15 years !! But it says it prevents "pipe-blueing" ?!
