So the bike came with forward controls, I wanna ditch em for mid controls but I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Theres a linkage underneath the bike for right side shift, bike is currently set up for left side shift. Anyone ever had to do this before? Where do the mid controls mount? Directly onto the cases?

Really noob questions, thanks in advance

75-76 has a linkage to shifter on left side with a long ass shifter lever (really crap)
I have mids on my 75 now but got really tired of the crappy shift lever so i did a jockey shift.
After riding it once and it sucked i ordered a pair of forwards..

75-76 is probably the worst sportsters ever since it is the bastards of the correct right side shifter and left side shifter laws.

If you wanna go with the original 75-76 setup you need the footpegs

and the lever

You could also buy a 74 shifter shaft and convert it to right side shift, but you need to remove the clutch and open the trans.

I would stay with the forwards..

Zeke, I currently have mids on mine and hate the long ass shift lever as well. The length makes so much play its like you are digging down to get under it to shift up. With forwards on does it tighten up the play in the shifter at all?
