Hey all, I have a 94 sporty 1200. Bought used with low miles; needed some work (gaskets). Bone stock the thing seemed to top out around 88 mph in 5th. I slapped in the CVP carb tuning kit (used main and idle jet sizes recommended by CVP), aftermarket air cleaner, and some cycle shack slip-ons. Now it sounds/feels like its topping out at 80.

I've been riding for 7/8 years but this my first Harley so i thought it was just how their smaller Twins worked, I hear people saying they have carb'd 883's stock going 100+ and 1200's going 120 plus with ease and power to spare. I'm just wondering if anyone had any advice on what could be wrong with my bike or where i should start? or if i should just find a good tuning shop?

I live in the Los Angeles area, if anyone knows decent tuners for a good price to recommend if i cant figure this out i would appreciate it

Also, if anyone wants to post pics/top speed and the setups on they have that would be rad

man i fucking love that thing!

Trash-this is only my anecdotal experience and i'm no mechanic, but when mine was doing similar things i was running way too rich and it was bogging down when it was wide open. does it feel like it runs fine at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, but when you crack it all the way it seems to lose power?

p.s.-when my bike was an 883 it seemed to max out right around 100.

My 03 883 has seen 110 on a couple occasion. Just a K&N filter, a rejet and V&H's slip ons!!!

What do your plugs look like ? Timing ?
Compression, spark, valves ? When all that is right move to carb jetting
