Well I know everyone wants to see another sportster build thread so here ya go.
I have tried to include as many pictures as I could without being redundant.

Yes I know it’s a sporty. Yes I know it looks just like every other sporty chop out there. Yes I know you would have done this or that differently but this is how I did it. Its my bike and I love how it came out. And I ride the piss out of this thing. If this isn’t your thang then simply click the back button and move on to something that suits your fancy. There is plenty of cool shit here on the cult. Some folks on here have asked for a thread so here it is. I decided to wait until I was finished to do a thread so I could do a quick from start to finish deal. Hope ya'll get some sort of entertainment out of it.

It started as a 2010 Iron 883. This is it the night I brought it home.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_01.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_01.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_01.jpg"/></a>

Made a couple easy changes (Mercury Moto Bars and Biltwell Struts) and rode it like that for a while.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_019-1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_019-1.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_019-1.jpg"/></a>

Couldn’t leave well enough alone and with the inspiration from chopcult I took it a little further and went for the brat style (the style not the brand) look.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0114.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0114.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0114.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0116.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0116.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0116.jpg"/></a>

I kept it like this for a few months and then decided that I just couldn’t take it anymore. I had to have another chopper.

One weekend later and it looked like this.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0118.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0118.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0118.jpg"/></a>

I had planned on doing all the work myself but to make a really long story short I ended up taking it over to the Haifley Bros for the bulk of the major fab work.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0119.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0119.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0119.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0120.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0120.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0120.jpg"/></a>

They had never had their hands on a rubber mount sporty before so it took a little work but they got it all sorted out for me in no time.

This is the first set of bars I whipped up for it while it was at the Haifleys getting all done up.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0122.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0122.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0122.jpg"/></a>

At this point itís a roller just got to figure a few things out. Didnít like how the drag specialties seat looked so we decided to go custom.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0124.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0124.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0124.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0125.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0125.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0125.jpg"/></a>

They also mounted my tank, and fender, and fabbed up a sissy pole, oil bag and rear master cylinder mount. To top it off the seat they made for me is so rad. Super AWESOME dudes and a pleasure to work with.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0127.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0127.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0127.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0129.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0129.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0129.jpg"/></a>
Thats my happy ass testing out the seat for the first time. It's nice. As you can tell from my dumb smile.

After what seemed like a long wait I finally got it home and started digging into the fun stuffÖ

<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0139.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0139.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0139.jpg"/></a>

Wiring! I hate this shit. I was bound and determined to keep the fuel injection. Luckily I found a stripped down EFI wiring diagram here on the cult and went off that. With a couple tweaks it worked like a charm. I went slow and took my time with the hopes of not having to try and chase down any wiring gremlins later on down the road. Fingers crossed.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0136.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0136.png" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0136.png"/></a>

Here is some (not all) of the shit I removed.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0137.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0137.png" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0137.png"/></a>

Was gonna use the stock taillights but after staring at them for a few days I decided to go a different route.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0144.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0144.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0144.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0149.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0149.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0149.jpg"/></a>

This is right after I "finished" the wiring. got everything routed and sorted and basically ready to go.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0150.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0150.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0150.jpg"/></a>

Still a lot of loose ends to tie up at this point but I wanted to see it on the ground. Pumped with how its looking.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0154.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0154.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0154.jpg"/></a>

Time to fab the exhaust! First time ever making an exhaust from scratch. I ordered a couple bends and a straight piece from Bison Motorsports. Nothing too crazy.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0157.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0157.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0157.jpg"/></a>

Ding! Pipes are done! Getting closer!
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0161.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0161.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0161.jpg"/></a>

This is where we skip some documentation and swearing in the garage.
I had everything all buttoned up and ready to try and start it so I caould take it out for a shakedown ride. Turn the key, hit the starter button and nothing. All I could think was FUCK I hope itís not the wiring. It wasnít Hallelujah! Turned out it was a couple of gummed up injectors. The engine sat for a WHILE and this dummy forgot to depressurize the system before teardown. Either way it was a super quick fix and it fired right up after we got them back in. Finally back on the road and it felt AMAZING!
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0163.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0163.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0163.jpg"/></a>

Rode it around like this for a few months.
Went through a couple could mounts before I finally fabbed this one up.
Nice and sturdy now.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0186.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0186.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0186.jpg"/></a>

I also played around with quite a few bar combos (Narrowed Apes, Chumps, buckhorns) but just kept coming back to the t-bars. Decided to change them just a little for comfort.
2 inches shorter and now with 10 degrees of pull back.
<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0194.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0194.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0194.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s1116.photobucket.com/user/kylerossjohnson/media/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0195.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k579/kylerossjohnson/Mrs%20Norris/Harley_0195.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Harley_0195.jpg"/></a>

Rode it for another couple months and figured I better get it painted before it turns into hell here in phoenix.

How did you depressurize the fuel injectors? I'm about to wire mine up and that isn't something I thought of during disassembly either.....I'm guessing I'll run into the same problem.

I just pressed the little ball bearing in on the fuel line that connects to the tank/pump to let the fuel/pressure escape. It made a small mess but there wasnt too much fuel in the system so it wasnt to bad. Other than it smelled super skunky from sitting so long.

Really cool to see someone else's EFI Sporty get hacked up AND come out looking rad as fuck.

I'm doing the same to my 48 right now. Mids, bars, a different rear fender, and loss of buttons wasn't enough to satisfy me either haha

What were some of the major points on the wiring that you removed? Also, I'm kind of stumped on this portion of my build: Did you jumper out the tip over switch or mount it in that box in front of your battery, or under your seat?

What brand of spray paint did you use on your frame? I'm going that route as well to save some major bones.

That coil mount and battery/electronics box is the tits.

Thanks! The haifleys were awesome to deal with. If I would have made the hardtail myself I would have done it a little differently but they did a killer job none the less.
they machined my rear caliper to fit in the frame too, which is something that would have really sucked to do with an angle grinder lol

Thanks! The Haifley Bros also get credit for the rear master cylinder set up. we ended up using a older sporty master and they made a custom bracket for it. Pretty similar to a chopped sprocket cover off a pre rubbermount sporty.

This is the best picture of it that I have.

For anyone that is curious this is how it sits more recently. I made a new set of pipes that are much closer to the idea i had in my head to begin with. Also got some 4 over tubes.
Since this picture was taken I've also removed the p-pad and re-positioned the sissy bar. Small, subtle changes.

Where did you relocate your EMC computer?

Battery freaks me out if you get caught in a big rain. It's pretty low and exposed. You'll know when it's wet though from the pretty lights.

ECM was under the battery tray.

I never had any issues with it being there (and being exposed) but being in AZ it also doesn't rain a whole lot.
