I met this dude today with a '95 sporty with mag wheels and I want them on my bike. He said he was down to trade if my spokes would fit on his bike. My bike being a 77 sporty. Is this trade going to go down?

You need to measure the offset on both sides of the wheel, the width of the hub and compare them.
I can't help you with the front wheel, but I'm running an 18" 9 spoke rear mag from a '77-'79 Sporty
on my '96 XL1200S. The rotor and pulley bolted right up, I just had to space the pulley out 1/4".

'77 has drum brake rear, '95 is a disk. That's the most difficult obstacle to overcome.

You're right, only the XLCR had the discs and 18" 9 spoke mag in '77.
I think they were standard a couple of years later on the other models.

Yeah, disk brake on rear became standard in '79 on all XL models. As you stated, the XLCR had it in '77. The '77 had the 7 spoke Morris mags, but at some point in the two year run Harley switched over to the OEM nine spoke. All disk brakes, however.
