We need a big ride in the Midwest, like the guys out in Cali have with the El Diablo Run, which looks super bitchin'. However like most people I just don't have the time or money to make that trip, only to make another trip through Mexico. So I'm looking for some guys out here who are down to do a 4 day party/ ride up around lake michigan! hop in where you can, ride with us as far as you'd like, but lets make this happen! First annual lake michigan loop!

I'll be starting in Milwaukee, headed up towards Escabana, Mi for the first leg. Then over the bridge from the UPto the mitten so to speak. we might take the lake edge around or head through the state forest up that way depending on who goes and the groups decision. Then we will head back over to the lake and down towards Indiana Loop up through Chicago area ending back in Milwaukee.

So, for those of you who have the kahones to take thise trek let me know what your thoughts are. Anyone from these areas know of good places to stop/ camp? wheres the good roads etc? If you've made this trip what can you recomend? I want to make this an annual thing with wrenchers, riders, drinkers and everyone who just wants to chase a good time. So who's in?

Yes! I'm up in Traverse City and can see Lake Michigan from my window. A few guys have come up here and been through here, but mostly(99.9999999%) it's just old weekend warriors on chromed out baggers. This area is gorgeous, excellent asphalt, great riding roads and nobody on them but me.

Ha ha that's awesome man! If you got some good routes for us or can scout some cool scenic roads up there we'd appreciate it !Maybe even a place to camp out and party! I'm hoping to get this thing going and make it annual like I said hopefully you can get some buddies involved to make this thing rockin!

There is a Lake Michigan circle route. Signs and everything.

But if I were a tour guide I'd do this route coming from the bridge heading South:
Get off 75 and get on 31 South to 66 West.
Take 66 West to Cross Village and eat lunch at the famous Legs Inn restaurant.
Enjoy the FUCK out of M-119 "The Tunnel Of Trees"(one of the best driving roads in the country!) South to Harbor Springs and get back on 31 South.
Haul ass down to Traverse City for the night and party with me, I'll bring the moonshine!
There is a campground there, or hotels, or 15mins away is a motorcycle-only campground in Interlochen.
Get on M-22 and go North around the Leelanau Peninsula and stop in Frankfort or Manistee for lunch.
Take 31 South to keep on going.

I couldn't have asked for a better response man, this is exactly what i'm looking for. People from the areas we're going giving us guidance because the circle tour is probably just the main drags, I want the back roads, and the cool shit like you're telling me! So Hell yeah! Lets get some more responses guys!

I've been trying to plan the same thing with a few friends, sounds like it could be a good time. We would be starting in Michigan but maybe we could meet up with you somewhere in Michigan and ride to Milwaukee together?

This is a great idea.. Its been a few years but we have done this a few times starting inGreen Bay heading north.. Went south one year and took the ferry from Manitowoc over to Ludington, MI and them north.. Lots of nice riding in Michigan.. Need local guys from each state to plan this out for places to stop/camp/party.

Me and a buddy left Orlando Florida and rode around Lake Michigan last summer. The up is the shit. Our whole trip is hash tagged on Instagram if u care #thegreatlakeandbake we camped every night, smoked joints all the fuck over and raised hell, don't think we could get away with it twice but I'm down to try. When I get to my computer I can share the route. Copper harbor was the coolest ride on the east coast, like a motocross track but a street. 4725847259

I'm down.

Might as well be. If you ride the tunnel of trees, I'll be able to hit you with rocks as you pass my house if I don't ride along.

I work in nuclear security, and my schedule is stupid. Most of my vacation days are already couched for. I won't be able to get away for four solid days, but I can play tour guide from the Mackinac Bridge down to Charlevoix or Traverse City.

I had planned to make the circle tour myself, but those vacation days are being burned up riding my father's ashes to their final resting place.

Sounds like its going to be a good time, I'd be down to join up for a while, can probably get a decent group put together also.

aaaannnndddd Shameless plug:

The American Motorcycle Racing Association will be at US131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI for August 22, 23, & 24.

I know that its a bit off track, toward the middle of the mitten not so much the coast, but it is going to be a hell of a party. Big swap meet, kick ass band [potentially more than one], ride in bike show, "Run What You Brung" classes of competition, and not to mention "the fastest harley racers on the planet earth."

More info available on the AMRA Facebook page and www.AMRAonline.com

[like I said, shameless plug, the AMRA is a family owned and operated business, and the ONLY sanctioned ALL HARLEY racing association in the world]

Depends on where you are. North of Luddington, we just call it northern Michigan.
Grand Rapids on down is West Michigan.

Don't think much of the coast itself, we have too many of them.

In Houghton, mi. Met up with Billyolds on his ride and took them north then east. I'd definitely try to get up to copper harbor. If you're in my neck over a weekend I can show you around.

If you guys are good with taking off during the weekdays, you could start this in Milwaukee on June 8th right after the Violation Tour and call it like the "Continuing Moving Violation" or some shit. Mauston to Milwaukee(or Green Bay) is only around 2 hours and change. If I do the Violation Tour like I'm planning, I'm going to go up through the UP to get back to where I started anyway.

Starting in Savanna and doing the VT, going to Milwaukee to do the Lake Michigan trip and ending in Milwaukee is around 1,200 miles easily doable in 4-5 days going slow.

I'm 100% going to the Violation Tour, then completing the circle. Planning on Chicago on the 5th, after the V/T heading to Milwaukee to stay on the 8th, continuing the 9th to the UP. Probably fuck around for another day in the UP before crossing the Mac the morning of the 11th and hitting M-119 on the way South.

I'd love to do this ride, but I'm thinking early Fall. Nothern Wis is fantastic to ride through then. Plus it would give us time to set things up. I live in Waupun, Wis, not sure if that would make the tour route, but if it would I could find us a place to camp out for the night. If not, I'll offer to design a logo for the ride. I used to own a design company and still have all my connections to have patches for the event made up.

I did this ride solo last September. Had a more than two days in a row off for the first time in a while and went from Oshkosh to Ludington at a pretty casual pace. Took the Badger ferry back over to Wisconsin.
There are a bunch of free campsites along the way. Tunnel of trees is absolutely amazing. The highlight of the ride by far.
Also heading north from Traverse City and back south on the west side is pretty rad.
